Martin has always made prudent use of natural resources, especially rare or endangered tonewoods. At the same time, it's committed to building guitars of superior tone and playability that are affordable to every guitarist. The X Series more than meets both of these criteria.
This X Series 12-string left-handed guitar features patented high pressure laminate (HPL) mahogany back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, patented mortise and tenon neck construction, and professionally installed Fishman electronics. The result: great-sounding, great-playing guitars, that are environmentally friendly, and priced to fly out the door. This is one of Martin's best values ever. The X Series affirms Martin's commitment to providing an affordable and competitive option to players dedicated to live performance.
Martin's X Series D12X1AE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar features the D-14 fret auditorium body design, producing full, robust sound. Pairing the solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany-pattern HPL back and sides, the D12X1AE belts out rich clarity with plenty of projection. The mortise and tennon neck joint ensures optimal tone resonating from the instrument, while virtually eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.
The stratabond neck is a multilayered wood creation, bonding layers of wood under extremely high pressure. The material is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.
The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4" scale, 1-11/16" nut width, and 16" radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.
This X Series model features proven Sonicore pick-up technology with the Fishman Sonitone system, including "easy access" volume and tone controls conveniently and strategically located just inside the sound hole.
Dressed in a satin finish and featuring chrome tuners, chrome hardware, this guitar has the look and sound of a highly collectible Martin, but goes for a price that anyone can afford. Embrace the dream of owning your very own Martin guitar, at a price that is too good to pass up.
All X Series guitars arrive stage ready-just plug them in and play. All X Series guitars also include a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

This is the easiest-playing Martin I own or have owned. The action is excellent and the sound is pure & beautiful. I suspect that this is partly due to the sitka spruce top which is NOT laminated--yes, just pristine, raw wood. I presently own two other Martin guitars and I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this instrument. The only negative thing (which keeps me from giving it a perfect 5-star rating), is that the quality of the Fishman electronics doesn't compare to the quality of a Martin guitar. It's just a no-frills pickup with hidden volume adjustment and tone control with very little differential. I would happily pay more if they offered an on board pre-amp with Bass, Middle, Treble, and Volume. Hiding it in the sound hole should be secondary to the quality; it doesn't matter having the controls on the side of the instrument where they still can't be seen by an audience. Also, the 9-volt battery is much more difficult to access than if they used a couple of those nickel-size newer type batteries. I also recently purchased an Epiphone EJ-200CE acoustic-electric guitar. It has a much more advanced eSonic2 electronics system with two pickups, with Grover tuners--those are worthy of a Martin guitar!
I purchased my Martin 12 string about a month ago and I can't put it down! Great action and tone, even with the Amp.I might buy the same model in a six string!
I just bought this guitar and cannot recommend it highly enough. I usually play a much more expensive Martin 6 string and since I ordered this online without hearing it, was a little concerned about the sound and the fact that it is not all solid wood - I can tell you it sounds beautiful. The guitar was well set up right out of the box with the action a little lower than a typical 6 string Martin would be. I haven't even had the chance to plug it in yet but as fantastic and full as it sounds unplugged, I may not even bother. At this price point I cannot imagine you will find a better sounding 12 string (or 6 string) guitar. Buy iy and enjoy!
This 12 string is the absolute best value out there. Firstly, the sound of a 12 string is so unique and full and this particular model just fills up the atmosphere around you. Great lows and the highs aren't too tinny as you might find on a lot of 12 string models...and this baby can be plugged in as well, works great for live performances, no feedback issues and the pickups hardly take away from the natural sound. I am shocked at the price of this thing...hell get two of them. I am a Taylor brat but i must say those Taylors are getting a bit jealous of this baby.
