Well, My favorite Martin is - The Little Martin I'm a beginner and I purchased a full size guitar and found it was just too hard for me to handle. As a Woman and 5'2" I just did not feel comfortable holding the larger guitar. I decided to buy The Little Martin after reading some other reviews. I'm glad I did. I think I would have given up trying to learn guitar if I had stuck with the full size. Now, I'm going to give it a serious try. It's easy to hold - feels comfortable- great sound & tone. It's really cute. Comes with a gig bag. I think it's the best guitar for a beginner - especially a woman - if you have short arms like me. Thanks

You couldn't go any smaller and get any sense of a functional guitar, and Martin has done a great job building tone, playability and durability into this box. Unfortunately for me it is just too small to really enjoy taking along as my one guitar for a week vacation. It doesn't feel right cradled in my skinny 6 ft frame. My fingers crave a larger fretboard. The new (bigger, pricier) Taylor Mini is about as small as I'd like to go without it feeling like a novelty/different instrument that I need to learn all over again by cramping my fingers. But I like its tone, and it fits overhead luggage - I brought mine to Africa and back. Better than no guitar! Play one first - If it feels good, you will enjoy having this for its portability.

Travelin' and totin'

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

This guitar IS my acoustic guitar. A half size never sounded so full. Even on stage with a microphone in front of it, the Martin sound still carries out of a half-size. It disproves the theory that munchkins undoubtedly must have higher pitched voices. I do wish it was a cut in for better high fretting, but besides that, not a complaint at all. Thank you Martin.

Awsome Travel Guitar!!!!!!!!!

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

I bought this guitar because i was tired of lugging around a full sized guitar if i was just going to a friends house for a bit, or going on a trip. I ended up liking it more than my full sized acoustic. It delivers sound that you would never expect from such a small guitar. I love this guitar! GO MARTIN!

Sounds the best

By Jennifer

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

I did a lot of research before buying this guitar. I even bought a Martin lxm first and decided to return it for the lx1. There is a big difference in sound. The lxm sounded more like a toy but also had more of a deeper tone, but the lx1 has a natural tone that can't be beat. It sounds better than any other full-bodied guitar I've heard besides ones that are made by Martin.

Collectible Guitar

By John

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

The quality of materials and the craftsmanship of this little parlor guitar is excellent!!! It has such a sweet tone to it and is just the best for taking on travel and keeping close at hand anywhere. The gig bag is an excellent design and keeps the guitar safe when traveling and in storage. Just a beautiful piece, and would recommend as a first guitar.

Sweet sound

By Jim

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

We were in the other end of the store renting a schoiol violin. What fun - so I went down to the guitars to find one for my daughter. Well - this little thing is beautiful! When she and my wife played together at home it was, eyes closed, impossible to tell which was the full-sized guitar. The sound is rich like chocolate mousse. Can't believe it's a Martin for the price. This will become the collector's guitar that everybody had the cahnce to get for a song (ha-Ha).

Love, Love, Love my Little Martin

By Linda Smith

from Mechanicsville, Virginia

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

I absolutely love my Little Martin! I've picked around on full-size guitars for years but recently wanted something more comfortable for my size! I am 63, 5'4" and wanted a smaller, lightweight guitar that I could pick up and play at will, take and accompany my 4-yr. olds music class, or take along for family music night. This little girl does it all with ease - lightweight, sounds great, quite portable (fabulous bag, by the way!) Several guitarists and music teachers have tried her out and they, too, thought she was phenomenal! She may not be real wood like I originally thought, but that doesn't take away any of the enjoyment I have with her. Fabulous stress buster - great sound - light weight and music to my ear. Can't go wrong here!

Not bad

By chris

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

Guitar plays pretty nice and has decent sound. I just found it odd that no where on Guitar Center's description or on Martin's site did they mention that it was made in Mexico. I also do not like the fact that it needs to be set up and have the neck adjusted right out of the box.

Tremendous first guitar, Guitar Center is 5 stars as well

By Captive Socks

from New Jersey

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

First time guitar player who is retirement age. Self-instructing on guitar. Absolutely thrilled with this instrument. The size is perfect. It creates plenty of sound and is physically manageable. Astonished by how well it maintains its tuning. I wanted an instrument that sounded rich but not too bright, and one that would be forgiving enough to support a newbie. I didn't want to spend a great deal of effort maintaining it. I also didn't want to spend $500 on a small Taylor when I was doing this on a whim. LX1 fit my requirements. Did research online then went to a Guitar Center store to put my hands and ears on the instruments. I was extremely impressed by the person at the guitar center who helped me. He took lots of time, was patient, and very helpful. Based on how I was treated on my initial visit, I will always go to the Guitar Center first for what I now suspect will be many years of guitar business.

It was close but the Martin LX1 won

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

I've been to my local Guitar Center the last few days trying acoustic guitars. I wanted something that I didn't have to always plug in all the time and you just can't replicate that acoustic tone from an electric guitar. I think I accidentally seen the Martin LX1 on You Tube and I was impressed how good it sounded for a 3/4 guitar. Personally I thought it was a child's toy but after watching a few videos I had to try it out. It was between the Martin LX1 and Taylor's Baby Taylor. Both are great guitars. The Baby Taylor was brighter and almost came home with me but the Martin just had a small edge when I was playing some rock riffs. The tone is slightly darker but I feel it had the best of both worlds for me: Acoustic tone but a hint of rock-n-roll unplugged. Another plus was how all the forums I read said how tough this guitar is. That was the big reason I looked at the 3/4 size from the full size. I can see myself taking this out. The gig bag is pretty sturdy. Nothing cheap about it. I bought my right out of the box and just tuned it up and it was good to go.

Love my little Martin!

By mary

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

I wanted a guitar to mess around with but not be on my toes worried about it getting scratched or dropping it for the sake of my wallet. For this price, this guitar is perfect..amazed me from the moment I picked it up at GC. Tried the LXM but sounded a bit dull. For the extra $10 you can get the LX1, with the solid spruce top which gives it the well known martin ring with a vibrant and alive tone. It sounds almost like my Taylor, which is a major compliment. The neck is so smooth and easy to play on, not too thick or thin. Great low action as soon as I got it out of the box. No tweaking done whatsoever. The strings are perfect, action perfect, and most importantly the sound is perfect. Amazing guitar for the price. Can't believe the sound that can come out of this little guy! But hey, a Martin's a Martin. Couldn't be happier with it.

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

Let me first start this review saying my LX1 is my third Martin. Before getting the LX1 I had bought a Baby Taylor. I never really liked the sound, it was muffled and sounded a bit like my tenor uke. I ended up trading it in on my Martin X1-000E. I happened to pick up a LX1 at my local GC. What a difference the spruce top makes. If you are in the market for a great sounding guitar at a good price that doesn't take up much room, the LX1 is for you. You won't be disappointed!

Good, if you like the idea of an oversized ukelele

    By Cody Frye

    from DFW, TX

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

What I will say is this litle guitar is built surprisingly well. Frets are clean, neck's straight, intonation's on, action is acceptable, tuners are GREAT, wood quality and overall construction is nice. The sound.....well, it's fairly small, to be honest. But, if you're buying such a small guitar expecting a full range of tones, you're SOL here. Although it can get fairly loud while strumming with a pick (I'd say about 6 or 7 out of 10...10 being a full-sized dreadnought) it always maintains a ukelele-like tone and it's fairly quiet while picking. In other words, don't expect this guitar to ring out and resonate like a full sized acoustic because it never will. As for claiming to be 3/4 the size of a regular guitar, I'd say no. When you consider the body, it's maybe 60% the size at best...and that's pushing it. It's enjoyable to play, it stays in tune, it's built to last a while, and it looks good. Those are the qualities you want to look for in a guitar. The tone is really in the ear of the beholder. Again, we're talking about mix of acoustic and ukelele, no matter how you cut it. Sot, the best thing to do, as always, is play one in your local guitar store before you buy.

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

When I bought this little guitar, I was not at all expecting how awesome the thing would sound. I love playing this guitar, and I will pick it up over any of my standard sized acoustics because it is small, portable, and easy to play. It also stays in tune, another quality I was quite satisfied with because other smaller guitars I've seen can fall out of tune quite easily. All in all, a great guitar, and lives up to its name.

Great Sound for a Travel Guitar

    By WILLIAM FAHRNER

    from Chatham, Ontario

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

I had purchased a different brand guitar this past summer for when I went on vacation etc. Just wanted something I could play when I wanted to, and also one, that the beach and heat wouldn't damage. Well, it was durable, but didn't sound all that good. I just purchased the Martin LX1 last week and LOVE IT! It has a nice warm rich sound for a little guitar. I tried several in the store, and this one sounded the best. Great gig bag too! Today I played my Ovation, and then played the Little Martin. Sure there's a difference, but the Martin sounds great. I highly recommend it. Oh, it also has a wider neck, which helps.

I was a little hesitant to order based on the size of this guitar. It seemed like a novelty, not a long term investment. I couldn't have been more wrong. The Little Martin is the perfect size, has great sound and is very easy to play. We anticipate many years of use. This is a good all around guitar for beginners and advanced musicians.

    Sweet Little Guitar

    By Paul Reh

    from Wantagh, NY

Comments about X Series 2015 LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Regular:

Great little guitar with the quality of a Martin. It is a good traveling guitar as it fit easily into the overhead compartment of the commercial jet. The soft bag that comes with it provided ample protection. It provided me with hours of entertainment while visiting my wife's family! It has the nice distinctive Martin low E bass sound and overall good quality sound useable up to fret 12 (15 if you want to work at it) The finish is good and the neck is especially smooth. The frets are a reasonable size to easily play chords. It sits in my family room and is a nice light lap companion that I reach for whenever I am half watching tv. My regular Breedlove acoustic now seems bulky and heavy for anything but serious practice time. I expect years of pleasure from this baby Martin. Well worth the price.
