After recently deciding to take up the guitar, I realized that my small stature was going to make it a bit difficult. In picking out a guitar I really looked through all the 3/4 and "baby's" and travels I could find, the sound out of the LXM Little Martin was much better than the Fender, Squire, and Yamaha. The Baby Taylor did sound better, but it's harder to play (you have to push very hard on the strings) and a bit too big! So the LXM with it's smooth sound seems the perfect fit, literally for me. I would recommend it for students, kids and travelers, as it really has a memorable sound and light touch.

Little Martin. Big Sound.

By Dagger444

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

Good things come in small packages. (That?s what I keep telling my wife anyway.) And the Little Martin LXM acoustic guitar is no exception. Its smaller size is perfect for my 7-year-old son, who I bought it for, but guess who plays it more? That?s right, me. I?m the Bad Dad because I got it for his birthday, but when I pick it up I?m like a pit bull on a pork chop?I won?t let go. It?s such a kick to play. It?s got nice tops and mids, and for a little guy it?s got decent bottom, too. Put it all together and its got the rich, warm sound that makes a Martin a Martin. Another plus: it comes with a padded gig bag, making it the perfect traveling companion next to a busload of groupies. Is it perfect? Almost. My one criticism is that it lacks certain eye candy you see on other acoustics, say, mother-of-pearl neck inlays. But the lack of these decorative nuances is a small price to pay, considering its retail price is a small price to pay. Beginners, travel junkies, kids -- Bad Dads -- everybody can discover their inner Neil Young with the Little Martin LXM, the biggest little acoustic guitar around. Now if you?ll excuse me, I have to send my son to bed -- so I can play his guitar.

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I recently had surgery on my left shoulder and this ?Little Martin? was just the ticket to feed my guitar ?jones.? Following my ?procedure? I had no external rotation with my left arm. This guitar is just the right size for sitting on the couch and making some noise! I re-strung it with some Martin MSP 4050?s, lowered the action a little and now it plays like a dream. Even though my shoulder is doing much better, I can?t put it down! This thing never ceases to amaze me even though it?s ? size and all HPL. But then again, it?s a Martin!

Little Martin has BIG Sound

By Andy H.

from Nashville, Tn

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

The Little Martin doesn't sound like my big Martin but that's what I was expecting - so no surprises there. However, this guitar does sound bigger than it looks. If you are thinking you're going to get the big Martin sound out of this guitar then I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. That being said, as far as Travel Guitars go this is the best that I have played and I played almost everything out there in the Travel Guitar category. I was also impressed with it's durability. This thing can take temperature changes, humidity changes and anything else the barometer wants to throw at it and not bat an eye. When it arrived in the mail it had been in the back of a hot UPS truck for about three days - I took it out and the guitar was very, very warm but when I strummed it it was still in tune from the factory tuning!! Great guitar for the money - this one will be going on lots of trips with me. Oh yeah - it fits perfectly into the overhead compartment on airplanes!

It Rocks!

By Valerie

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

The Martin LXM is small but mighty. I'm a literature and language teacher. Some of my students like to put their poetry to music. I wanted a guitar I could carry to and from school, and this one fits the bill. It sounds great! (I own an Alvarez acoustic and a Fender American Stratocaster but don't want to take them to school everyday.) This little guitar will do the job for me and my prolific (and musical) poetry students, because it's light weight and portable. You won't be sorry with this sweet little guitar!

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

Bought as a guitar to just throw around and relax with. Great tone, great feel it even sounds better than my dread Fender acoustic. Highly recommend for anyone either for fun or for some acoustic jamming.

If there's a better one, I haven't found it

By Sax

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this "little" guitar for my 7 year old grandson's birthday. I tried several other brands before deciding on the Martin LXM. None even came close to the Martin's quality, playability, tone, or intonation. I kept it at my house for a week before giving it to him, and I had a hard time putting it down. If you want a child to learn on an instrument that will teach their ear the correct tones, the LXM is highly recommended.

BEST BET!

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I've had my LXM for two years. It's been to Africa, Indonesia, and all over the USA, and it hangs on my living room wall at home for those times I "feel the urge". When I'm serious I break out the '72 D35. When I just want to pick a little, this one gets the nod! I tried all the "little" and "travel" guitars, and this one is waaaaay out in front of the pack. 5 stars - more if I could!

Great Little Guitar

By Lorena Sikorski

from Cypress, Ca

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is a little smaller then I expected. I thought a 7/8 size would be a little bit bigger. However it has a big sound for it's size and sounds great! It fits my small size hands (I'm a petite woman) and doesn't look or sound like a kids toy. I'm not embarrassed to play it in a group. The Martin name commands respect from other guitarists. The bronze strings are a little hard on the fingers if you're not used to them; I had previously been playing on nylon strings. But again the improved sound from them is worth getting used to. The wooden front improves the sound of the LX1 and is worth the few extra bucks to get it over the LX.

Taro patch top pick

By Gary Cordeiro, Ssg , US Army, 75th D

from Brentwood , Ca

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this guitar expressly as a travel guitar. I will be deployed to Iraq for a year. I wanted the Koa model because it resembled a ukulele and also the rich tonal qualities. I play Hawaiian Slack Key in Open G Tuning. The bass is full and rich with a very complemental treble accompaniement. I'm not overly fond of the laminated neck, it's purely cosmetic; and a personal preference. The action is smooth and again as a personal preference; slightly lowering the string height. Beause of its petite dimensions it is easy to carry and could quite easily replace a previous bulkier favorite.

My little friend.

By Charles

from Covina CA

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar for the sole purpose of being abused. After checking out other guitars of this size (it was down to the LXM and Baby Taylor) the LXM just had a nice tone and felt like it would stand more wear and tare than the Taylor. I work at a summer camp in the mountains and I'm a full time student. I keep this little guitar in my car and it goes where I go. The guitar has held up beautifully after a summer in the mountains and the gig bag has held up equally well. Now that I'm home as a student I tend to reach for this guitar rather than my Breedlove Atlas or my Gibson J-55. So all in all I would recommend this if you are looking for a guitar you know will take some abuse over the years.

Packs a big punch

By Martin Ikeda

from Des Moines, IA

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I own the LXME Ed Sheeran, which is a great little guitar! When a family member asked my opinion on which small guitar to get, I did not hesitate to recommend Martin. The LX is HPL, but it sounds like a solid top guitar. I love the wood grain on the back of the neck and headstock. The tone of this guitar when compared to all the other 3/4 guitars, is far superior (I've owned a Laguna LD-1, Yamaha JR, and Taylor Baby). The Laguna comes closest to sound. The Taylor has an ebony neck, which is nice, but has mostly treble, very little bass. The Martin feels like an ebony neck, and projects. The natural finish is beautiful, but the pics of the all black are impressive as well. Tuners are nice, finish is quality, action was perfect out of the box, easy to fret, great for fingerstyle or strumming. Side-by-side to all 3/4 guitars, even though you pay a little bit more for this guitar, it is far, far superior to its competitors: higher quality build, more attractive finish, and sounds absolutely stunning. Comes with a bag. And it's a Martin. Check the reviews: 20X more people are buying and reviewing this guitar, and there's a reason for it-it's the best travel guitar out there!

Not the best Martin out there!

By wolfman1012

from Newark, OH

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

The Martin LXM or "Little Martin" guitar is all-right. It has the backing of Martin built guitars but is not one I'd recommend unless for either a child or student or travel guitar. It's cute, but not the best-looker. It plays fine with a leaning towards bright sounds. For the money, I'd buy a full-size Epiphone or Washburn or Fender and let that be my travel guitar. It's not bad, but it's not great either!

My second small guitarr

By Liptonius.com

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I have had a Ibannez daytripper for several years, and as I haerd about the LXM early 2006 I just had to try one. As there is no reseller for LXM in Sweden I asked a frien in Las Vegas to get one for me I now have one. I can just say that The martin is a guitar and the Ibanez is a mandolin in SOUND. Both instruments are my favourites though I own 13 different guitars until today. The next will probably be a 00028.

Cannot put it down!!!

By nnh

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

Since picking it up out of the box, I have not been able to put it down. I have literally fallen asleep holding this little gem! It sounds better than I expected, fits my hands, and is a gas to play. I just leave my 40 year old Gibson in its case, now. I am, after 40 years, really learning to play because of the small size, sound, and ease of this baby. I don't need to worry about hurting it because it is not a big investment. The case it beautiful and the guitar smells like a nice fragrant wood (laminate or not). I have never had so much fun with a guitar. I love fine things and this guitar is just fine.

Little Martin - Koa

By Matthew

from San Antonio, TX

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

Sweet little guitar! Sounds amazing and the koa wood is gorgeous. It just needed a little tuning, but other than that, it plays great right out of the box. I'm thinking I'll lower the action, but that's just a personal preference. I highly recommend this guitar.

Little wonder

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

Just got back into playing after a 20 year hiatus. Bought this for taking on the road when I travel for work. Sounds great and a good deal. The HPL looks fine to me and seems to really take a beating with no visible marks.I know some will say it is not a real Martin due to the HPL, but I have a two year old. Seems smart to me to buy the HPL for now. Also sounds like a full size.

Unbelievable!

By John N

from West Palm Beach, Florida

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I just bought the Martin LXM and I could not be more pleased. From the feel, the sound and the quality of craftsmanship this instrument is amazing. I regularly play my Taylor 814CE but for friends parties, traveling or just being able to practice at my girlfriends house this is the perfect solution. I compared this with a Taylor baby and it is far superior, I recommend this to anyone considering a baby acoustic.

I canۡt believe what I got!

By Carlos

from San Diego CA

Comments about X Series 2015 LX Little Martin Acoustic Guitar:

I got this guitar because I am currently deployed in Iraq and wanted to get better at playing the guitar will I was out here. So I went to GC online and red all the reviews on travel guitars and found that this one was the best. So I decided to take a chance and man I could not believe what I got! I got the Koa Little Marten and man it is so loud for such a little guitar. It is well crafted and for the price it is steel. You canۡt go wrong with this guitar. The perfect size for the traveler and WOW, what a sound. I am totally satisfied. Great job Martin
