Overview

Martin guitars from the X Series feature patented high pressure laminate (HPL) back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, patented mortise and tenon neck construction, and professionally installed Fishman electronics. The result: great-sounding, great-playing guitars, that are environmentally friendly, and priced to fly out the door. This is one of Martin's best values ever. The X Series affirms Martin's commitment to providing an affordable and competitive option to players dedicated to live performance.

The 6-string Martin DXK2AE acoustic-electric guitar features a D-14 platform, a dreadnought body design producing big, rounded sound. Pairing the Hawaiian koa-pattern HPL top with the koa-pattern HPL back and sides, the DXK2AE belts out rich clarity and plenty of projection. The mortise and tennon neck joint ensures solid construction of the guitar, with optimal resonant tone, while eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.

The Martin guitar's stratabond neck is a multilayered wood creation, bonding layers of wood under extremely high pressure. The material is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.

The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4" scale, 1-11/16" nut width, and 16" radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.

This X Series acoustic-electric guitar features proven Sonicore pick-up technology with the Fishman Sonitone system featuring "easy access" volume and tone controls conveniently and strategically located just inside the sound hole.

Dressed in a satin finish and featuring chrome tuners, chrome hardware, this guitar has the look and sound of a highly collectible Martin, but goes for a price that anyone can afford. Embrace the dream of owning your very own Martin guitar, at a price that is too good to pass up.

The Martin DXK2AE guitar arrives stage ready-just plug them in and play. All X Series guitars also include a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Martin has always made prudent use of natural resources, especially rare or endangered tonewoods. At the same time, it's committed to building guitars of superior tone and playability that are affordable to every guitarist. The X Series more than meets both of these criteria.

Never again

By J K

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXK2AE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about 9 years ago from Guitar Center and it has been nothing but problems. First, the "inlay" around the sound hole is not an inlay. It's basically a decal that rubs off as you play. Next, out of nowhere, the fretboard came separated from the neck, which cost me about $80 to get fixed. Then the nut, which was cheap broke off at the edge. Now, and this cannot be fixed, the bridge is pulling away from the front of the guitar, and you can't heat up the glue to get it off because the laminate will warp. These are not good guitars, and it's a shame that a company with such a good name would produce such a shabby product.

This is my "go-to" guitar....

By Peggy Young

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXK2AE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for over 30 years.. Been on stages etc.. I have a DXK2, Made in USA.. And I keep it at 1/2 step down.. The deep wooden sound is best at D#.. You can really get some Bluegrassy/Americana tone from it.. I've recorded with it. Electronics on the DXK2AE would be cool for sure. I put in a Fishman, cross sound hole pick up. Plugged in and it has full, clear note spectrum. Record with it acousticly and you'll get all the tone and fullness you want. It projects and has a nice sustain. As for the durability.. Like I say this is my "Go-To" guitar for gigging out in weather, and for banging around.. It's built like a tank. With the laminate surface it won't mark up and I am really careful with my instruments. My other guitars, Guild, Fender, Seagull are soft wood and would easily get more character then I want them to have.. I see allot of beat up guitars in Nashville. Most are not from just playing..lol Abuse to an instrument is expensive. This Martin is a work horse. Not a problem with temp changes or humidity changes quickly. An all around great guitar for any level. Take my advice.. use D'Addario's and keep it Tuned 1/2 step down. You can always Capo up for Standard tuning.. Just my thoughts...

Smokey & Elegant

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXK2AE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

For an acoustic this guitar has such warm and even tone. And it comes installed with a Fishman pick up. I particularly love the fact that you can just jack in the plug on the side of the guitar as opposed to some weird place with an exterior pick up. Great guitar for both live and recording. I'm really diggin' it's nonchalant attitude as well. If you're a simple person who values tone and overall feel of guitar as opposed to flash, this guitar will suffice that demand perfectly.

Durable with a Deep Sound.

By Michael Ritz

from Boca Raton, FL

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXK2AE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I had a DXK2 that I ended up selling on Craigslist because I wanted a old Taylor. Tried the Taylor ended up buying the DXK2E back and only paid $50 more than for what I sold my old one for. They hold their value because it is a unique guitar. My old DXK2 went to the beach, Chicago, Michigan and it was just fine. If you need a second guitar to travel with and don't want a mini or a backpacker this is your guitar. Take it from me. I sold mine and had to buy a new one.

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXK2AE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This was my first time to upgrade my guitar. I've had the entry level Squire for years but have always wanted an upgrade. For Christmas my wife got me a GuitarCenter gift card (best wife ever.) I have probably played every acoustic guitar in the acoustic room at the local GuitarCenter and there's just something about the tone of the Martin. This is on the lower end of the Martin price spectrum, but don't let that fool you. It sounds amazing with rich and deep low tones. I am now a Martin player for life. You will not be disappointed.
