Overview

Martin guitars from the X Series feature patented high pressure laminate (HPL) back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, patented mortise and tenon neck construction, and professionally installed Fishman electronics. The result: great-sounding, great-playing guitars, that are environmentally friendly, and priced to fly out the door. This is one of Martin's best values ever. The 000X1AE guitar affirms Martin's commitment to providing an affordable and competitive option to players dedicated to live performance.

The 6-string X Series 000X1AE acoustic-electric guitar features the 000 platform, a smaller body design than the traditional dreadnought, producing full, robust sound. Pairing the Sitka spruce top with the HPL back and sides, the 000X1AE belts out rich clarity and plenty of projection. The Mortise& Tennon neck joint ensures optimal tone resonating from the instrument, while eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.

The Martin guitar's stratabond neck is a multilayered wood creation, bonding layers of wood under extremely high pressure. The material is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.

The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4" scale, 1-11/16" nut width, and 16" radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.

The Martin 000X1AE guitar features proven Sonicore pick-up technology with the Fishman Sonitone system featuring "easy access" volume and tone controls conveniently and strategically located just inside the sound hole.

Dressed in a satin finish and featuring chrome tuners, chrome hardware, this guitar has the look and sound of a highly collectible Martin, but goes for a price that anyone can afford. Embrace the dream of owning your very own Martin guitar, at a price that is too good to pass up.

All X series guitars arrive stage ready-just plug them in and play. Martin X Series guitars also include a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Martin has always made prudent use of natural resources, especially rare or endangered tonewoods in making their guitars. At the same time, Martin is committed to building guitars of superior tone and playability that are affordable to every guitarist. This 000X1AE acoustic-electric guitar from the X Series more than meets both of these criteria.

Impressive Sound and Quality

By Daniel

from Nashville, TN

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar sounds very open and woody. It has that very nice Martin sound heard on the higher end Martins. I have had recent experience with other brands of guitars that did not have the same craftsmanship quality that this Martin has. It just plays perfect. I guess they must not be made to far down into Mexico because obviously someone at Martin cares about quality control. It seems they maintain a lot of control over their factory in Mexico. I'm very impressed with what Martin can do with an acoustic guitar top! The secret is in the bracing. Most of the sound of an acoustic comes from the top. This guitar has a solid spruce top just like it's more expensive brothers and sisters, but it sounds just as good as they do because of the top bracing pattern. You will definitely like this guitar if you like the way the higher end Martins sound. I really like the Fishman Sonitone sound system. It has an awesome and powerful sound plugged in. I also like the volume and tone controls hidden just beneath the sound hole for easy aceess. This guitar has a more defined and non muddy bass because of it's 000 body shape, but it still has plenty of bass. It also has very nice brightness and clarity, which frankly did surprise me. I am very happy that I chose this guitar to buy over the other that I tried. (I bought mine new from the Guitar Center in Nashville.)

A perfect fit A+

By Gabe

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After returning a few guitars because I just couldn't find the right tone I was looking for, I found this one! Wow! I couldn't believe the sound that I was getting from this Martin. It has a nice clarity and nice bass. The size is perfect for me because of it's slenderness of sort, I am able to play anywhere, on the couch, laying down etc. It's a FUN guitar to play. I tried out the other more expensive Martin's and I really can't tell a difference. This Martin holds its own.

Great Buy!

By Wayne

from Overland Park, KS

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am an experienced bass player who has always dabbled in guitar. I thought it would be fun to get an acoustic and learn to play songs to play around the fire so to speak. My budget was set around $300. I played the Martin a few weeks ago and loved the sound. It was out of my budget range but I went ahead and compared several other guitars against it. There was no doubt in who the winner way. The Martin had a rich full sound that the others couldn't match. Ignoring the budget I took her home. I can highly recommend this guitar.

Great Guitar for the Money!

By Jeff Lee

from Padre Isalnd, TX.

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been wanting to buy a guitar for many years but never did because of raising kids and working long hours. Now that my kids are grown, I decided that I wanted to finally purchase a guitar. First of all, I 'm very pleased with GC's helpful staff and their policies. I was intending to pay no more than $200 for a guitar thinking that a $200 guitar sounds as good as a $500+ guitar so I purchased a Yamaha FG700s. I brought it home and after a few days of learning cords and struming it just didn't feel right to me. The tones were not vey clean and crisp. So I took it back to GC an upgraded it to a Dean Exotic Ash electric acoustic for $350 with no exchange problems at all. I really liked the looks of this guitar but after playing with it for a while it just didn't fit me well because its bulky. So I came to the conclusion that I needed to spend more to get a guitar that fit me well and get the most bang for my buck! I spent a lot of time researching many brands before going back to GC and trying them out extensively. I decided on the DX1AE! It fits me perfect and the tone and sound is amazing compared to the others tried. The neck is very comfortable and feels great in my hand. I liked the Taylor 210G as well, but it wasn't worth the cost difference to me. It sounded great but for the money the Martin was the best buy in terms of tone, sound, quality and price point. You can't go wrong with a Martin, they just flat out deliver a quality guitar that will last for many years. I love this guitar and recommend it highly.

Do not hesitate buy one

By David Wright

from Binghamton, NY

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I immediately got it home and changed the strings to EXP daddarios 11's and it was like magic. The Martin strings that came with it were not punchy. It came with perfect action and the HPL neck is actually better than real wood. It allows your hand to slide real easy. I am blown away. The only minor issue is when you want to change the battery in the battery pack you basically have to do it when you change the strings. Just hope it doesn't go out during a gig.

the best in its range...by far

By Chris Byrd

from The Colony, TX

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've actually had this now for maybe a year and a half. I went in to the store not knowing about this guitar. I tried playing about 9-10 guitars in this price range from some very reputable brands. None of them had the 'wow' factor to the sound until I played this one. It just had a louder, more balanced tone that was bright without going too far and actually had bass depth as well. The smaller body was much easier to play than the larger body Martin a friend of mine has. The action was nice with no adjustment needed. Since that time, it has held up perfectly. I have a friend that just got a $3,000 Taylor. It looks much prettier, but to be honest I like this Martin's action and sound as much or better. The only tricky thing for me was getting the same great sound through the pickup that I could hear from the guitar acoustically. I initially rectified this by playing through an MXR 10 band EQ pedal to eliminate some muddiness in the mids when playing through a P.A. Since then, I realized that the strings I used on this one really matter. I normally like Elixirs, but decided to switch to Martin Acoustic SP Phosphor Bronze Extra Light strings. That did the trick to give me that super-bright great sound it had when I bought it. Also, using a 0.60 Dunlop Ultex pick (as opposed to a 0.73 pick) really helped get the best tone out of it. You can either take my word that this one sounds great or go try it yourself at the store. You'll see.

Top Shelve playability and tone

By John

from Goodyear, AZ

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have owned many dreadnought guitars, of the Martins, D2R/1999 and DX-Series. This was my first 000 body style purchase, specifically looking for a under $700.00 purchase. Upfront, the guitar is very playable; everything seems the right size. The neck will meet the expectations of any current/learning acoustic guitar player. What sets this 000 apart from others tried was the wide and deep woody tone. Picked, it sounds almost as wide as any good dreadnought. With finger-style it really takes off; It has a deep woody tone that is round and warm ? but 'loud' and the highs can be heard when pull on them. Primary intention here was Piedmont Blues, Delta/Slide Blues and some folk classics ? All of it sounds great. I have tailored the tone with different strings, 80/20BW, 80/20PHRS in different gauges. Onboard electronics (used via DI to PA) are terrific for the price point. It adjusts very nice with the tone control that has a lot of reach in both directions. Worth every penny.

Looked like a normal guitar

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I saw this guitar at guitar center and I have to say that it looks like your average guitar, I have never noticed it for awhile because I wasn't a huge martin fan. I don't know what I thought then when I grabbed the guitar, so I played it and couldn't put it back after I started. Guitar center was closing and I was there playing it until the last minute. I love martin now and this beast of a guitar that made me appreciate what martin can do to cheaper guitars and to the expensive ones as well. The 000x1ae is a mid-high end guitar in a beginners body, I highly recommend this guitar to anyone who wants to get serious with guitar, it sounds amazing plugged in, it's not tinny or doesn't sound muddy, It's just right. It almost sounds like a classic rock pre-amp. Check it out right when you see it, you'll be happy you did so.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING

By Jaejoon J Na

from NJ

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a truly impressive one, beating all the competition with similar or significantly higher price tags. When one of my friends heard this guitar (he has been playing for 25 years and has a $1500 Taylor), he was completely mesmerized by its sound, and for several hours that night he bothered me to actually trade my guitar with his HP tablet ($500 tablet that he got for $150 when it went on clearance sale). It was a joke but he is just not the type of person who would blatantly show his envy for someone else's stuff. He couldn't believe that my guitar's price. He said it sounds like a $2000 Taylor and we actually went to GC that night to try out that guitar he was referring to. He was right. I'm quoting him a lot because I'm just a beginner and he has 25 yrs of experience with guitar. Now, speaking of MY opinion. I personally did a lot of research (spent three full days at GC trying many different guitars before I purchased my guitar) and I can tell you the Martin X-Series guitars are truly impressive. At such an affordable price, the X-series guitars clearly set themselves apart from the ordinary brands in terms of sound. You can tell the difference with just one strum. The sound is very clear and focused with great resonance and sustain. Martins have that deep mellow Martin sound, which is what I like the most about Martins (compared to Taylors which I think have very positively bright but sort of light sound). Not only the X-Series clearly set themselves apart from the cheaper brands, they also sound much more impressive than many of the more expensive guitars. I think it beats some of the big brothers from its own Martin family too. For people looking for a guitar in the $300 range, try this one. It's very well worth the extra investment. My other friend who has a $350 Ibanez was convinced in 10 minutes that he needed to get himself a new guitar after hearing my guitar. For people looking for a guitar in the $1,000+ range, try this one. You will be surprised how this one beats the one that you were so close to buying. I love the X-Series!

Great for the price...

By John Traynor

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I really like this guitar... I have a martin gpcpa4 and a Taylor dn3 and wanted something I could take anywhere. This guitar fit the bill HPL helps fight humidity issues and doesn't seem to ruin tone. Solid top resonates nice.. Great playability after a setup. Decent pickups.. It's just a great guitar for the money. Not sure if it has a real competitor at this price.. For a couple of hundred less the new Mitchell performance series is nice.. So is Washburn.. But this baby has what they don't ..martin tone and a cool headstock :).

This one is a little smaller than those normal dreadnought guitars, but it has the Martin sound!! I cannot believe how this kind of big sound comes from this body. It is amazing! This guitar is also pretty and nice looking. The size is perfect for me, I can carry it around and play anywhere. I LOVE this guitar!!!

    Comments about Martin X Series 2015 000X1AE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have dreamed of owning A Martin for many years & now at 64 yrs. thought was impossible. Then I found this one for $500 and took a chance on buying her. This is without a doubt the best investment on guitars that I've made since I bought my '57 Tele for$450.00 in 1979.The quality & construction is top notch, sound is pure Martin and the neck is flawless.I would recomend this guitar to anyone. Some may say the HPL is a draw back,I don't!The one & only draw back is the placement of the battery compartment.Put a new set of Martin Marquis M1000 after you break her in with the strings that come with it and use a little Fast Fret after each playing and this is a STEAL!!!@this price. You won't regret this purchase!
