Carrying a distinct vintage-inspired design and updated like the D-18 a few years ago, the OM-28 offers many of the features found in Martin's pre-war era guitars. The OM-28 is constructed with all the features of the OM-28E Retro without the electronics package. Aging toner and a polished gloss finish are applied to the Sitka spruce top that features ΒΌ" "X" scalloped bracing.

The polished gloss East Indian rosewood body is edged with ivoroid binding. Like the 000-18, the model's neck features a modified low oval profile with performing artist taper with a width of 1-3/4" at the nut and 2-3/16" string spacing for easy playability. Nickel open-geared tuners with butterbean knobs are found with a rosewood headplate, which displays a large old style Martin logo.

Includes Martin hardshell case.

Comments about Martin Standard Series OM-28 Orchestra Model Acoustic Guitar:

I've been wanting an OM-28 for almost ten years - it's now my favorite guitar to play. More delicate sound and feel than my HD-28, but still has a full, rich sound and plenty of volume for my playing style. Ordering and delivery was quick and easy and the guitar arrived in perfect condition. Looking forward to many years of playing this beauty.

    The quest is over...for now

Comments about Martin Standard Series OM-28 Orchestra Model Acoustic Guitar:

I've been researching a smaller bodied (well, smaller than my D-15) acoustic for a while. Finally decided on the OM-28. I've had it only 2 days, but I haven't put it down much in that time. I'll start with the looks. Very nice tight, straight grain Sitka Spruce top. Rosewood back and sides are also very nice quality. I like the toner used on the top. It's not as yellow as it appears in the picture, but does give it more of a vintage look. No cosmetic flaws that I can see. I love the vintage 28 appointments (herringbone trim, zig zag back strip). Next, playability. I can say that this is the most comfortable neck that I've played on a Martin. I love the performing artist neck profile. The 1 3/4" nut and 2 3/16" saddle spacing are very comfortable, especially for finger picking. Action out of the box was perfect. As far as tone, it's exactly what you'd expect from a Martin. It's fun to go back and forth between this guitar and my D-15. The OM-28 obviously doesn't have the boomy bass and mids that a dreadnaught will, but it has a much more focused sound. Very clear highs. Not too bright or tinny, but very clear. But is still has that classic, deep, woody Martin tone. It especially sounds great finger picking, but it takes a pick well. Again, a different pick-strumming sound than on my D-15, but not worse. Just different. I played it at a small banquet setting in a small gymnasium, and the sound projected very well, with no amplification. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase. Sounds great brand new, and I can't wait to see how it sounds as it gets older. So far, no negatives to report.
