Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've been playing for 52 years. This is my 4th Martin acoustic, and my favorite. It arrived packed in the case (a nice touch compared to getting separate boxes), It was in reasonably good tune and set up just fine. It is surely the last guitar that I'll ever purchase, and though I'll never do it justice (old, arthritic fingers), it will make a fine heirloom for my son. I have wanted this guitar for a long, long time, and have been thrilled ever since I struck the first chord! Good job Martin. You're still tops!

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is a pure joy to play. Worth every penny though it does require a lot of them. Everything about it is first class: look, feel, etc. The lows, mid-range and highs are each exceptional despite it being a dreadnought bodied guitar. Sitka spruce top makes it truly a joy to listen to. Plus, something under appreciated is the smell of the guitar. It's not an overwhelming smell at all...it comes in moments and it's as good as it gets. The problem with this guitar is that it's hard to put down. That's it...Get one now!

Sell all your mediocre guitars and buy this one

          By Weston Williamson

          from Jacksonville FL

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've been using this guitar for about half a year now. All I can say is Wow. I also have an older D-17 and have played a few really nice D-28's. This guitar is on a whole other level...seriously. Great playing neck, perfect action, and amazing feel. But it's all about the tone! It kills it on stage and recordings are so crisp and warm. Do yourself a favor. Stop trying to build a collection of lower end Martins and Taylor's and own just one good one (keep a backup of course). This guitar is meant to be played by those who see fine instruments as valuable investments for their craft. After all...4k for a guitar is really a steal if it's your livelihood and passion. This is all coming from a guy who is not rich by any means....I just know what a good investment is. Buy it, love it, and pass it on to your kids.

Owning This Guitar Proves There Is A God

          By DAVID GRUNDY

          from Florida

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I don't know where to start describing this instrument, except to say that I'm dead serious when I say that this proves to me there is a God who must love me. The sound is unbelievably sweet, each string has perfect clarity, yet the balance is perfect, unlike some guitars like my Martin D-15. (The D-15 is amazing too, but the mid-range is very pronounced while the bass is a little too subtle and muddy). My D-41 has the clear, authoritative bass of rosewood without being boomy. My teacher plays a Santa Cruz Tony Rice model and we often note that the guitars have a very similar sound. I don't know if I got lucky or what but the action is unbelievable. With .10 gauge strings, it is almost as easy as an electric. I worried that the bling would be too much, but when I actually opened it, I was blown away by the beauty and exquisite workmanship and artistry. Sometimes you forget how beautiful it really is until you see someone else play it (which you won't let happen often). One other thing I'll mention - I don't know if I'm the only one like this but I've noticed that I can pick up a guitar one day and be amazed with the sound and then play the exact same one a few days later and wonder what I ever heard before to make me like it so much. My D-41 is not like that. It is sweet and pure and balanced every time I play it. If you can swing the money, it really is worth it.

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Fresh out of the box- a gem -the aroma of the finish with some fresh saw dust from Nazareth PA. Punchy, bright, deep tone with a warm sustain. Simply great craftsmanship. Superb action - as easy to play as a Les Paul. I love my new D41!

          Fantastic Tone, Action, and Looks

          By Chase

          from PA

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Like the title says, this guitar is fantastic in the two most important areas: tone and action, but also has the added bonus of boasting a beautiful look. It has crisp highs and well-defined (and still awing) bass; being extremely critical I do notice a slight lack in mids, which might go away with a change to different and brighter strings. The action is very low and simply easy to play. I chose this guitar after meticulously comparing it to others such as high end Taylor acoustics, Gibsons, the Martin HD-28 (which I thought was The One), Matin D-35, and my 1953 Martin D-28. The Taylors and the two Gibsons I played in my opinion had a sort of plastic/toy-like sound in the highs, whereas the Martins had the most wood-like sound, which appealed to my ear. The old D-28 has a great broken in sound, but it is still a little too bright for what I was looking for, hence my decision to get the D-41. As far as the HD-28 vs. the D-41, the HD-28 has "that great Martin sound" that is a warmed down D-28 tone, but still didn't have the presence, power, and depth that the D-41 had. I plan on installing the LR Baggs iMix pickup system in the guitar, which according to a friend's personal recommendation as well as internet reviews, gives the most natural sound and is the most feedback resistant. Overall I'd give this guitar a 9.9/10, and not a 10/10 only because of my particular guitar/"current set of strings" producing a very slight lack of presence in the mid-range.

C.F. Martin.. What else needs to be said!!

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

If you are in the market for a GREAT guiar.. This is the one. Unreal sound and playability. I have owned this peach for 3 months now and can't seem to put it down. This guitar has all of the sound and tone of a Martin D45 but half of the cost. I can't say 1 bad thing about this guitar. You will not be let down with this outstanding guitar from C.F. Martin!!!!

Not just better looking - amazing sound too

          By Carl

          from Pennsylvania

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I intended to buy a D-28/35 or HD-28/35. After trying these 4 models, I eliminated the D-28 since the HD-28 and D-35 sounded much better. The HD-35 really boomed but seemed too much for fingerpicking. I really did not want a D-4x model since I thought the headplate, gold tuners and abalone were the only upgrades and the guitar was only a decorated HD-28. Once I strummed the D-40 (now discontinued but same as D-41 without the outer inlay on the front), I could not believe the difference. It was much clearer and every string seemed to ring. The 28s and 35s seemed muddy in comparison. It also was well balanced and suited to both strumming and picking. I bought it on the spot. I am still in love with the sound (and it doesn't look bad either).

          D-41 Great sound and quality

          By MikeD

          from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-41 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

When purchasing my "dream" acoustic guitar, I played several brands and models to compare the sound and quality. There was no comparison to the rich and full sound of the Martin D-41. I kept trying other guitars and always came back to this one. While there were more frills (gold-plated tuners, abalone pearl inlays) than I needed, this guitar was far superior in sound than any others in its price range (as well as higher-priced guitars). I have owned my D-41 for 12 years and it still looks and plays as beautiful as the day I bought it. The only small complaint that I would have is that the neck is a bit broader than I was accustomed to, but I have now become acclimated to the neck and have no problems playing anything on this guitar. I have recorded several songs using a "live" mic (not a pickup) and a digital recorder, and the recorded guitar sound is just incredible.
