I love my OMC Cheery

By Charles Silket

from Northampton

Let me start off by saying I am a Martin employee and I have the opportunity to play any Martin I want and believe me, I've played a ton. If you are into alternative wood choices such as cherry instead of rosewood, you cannot go wrong with this Orchestra model. I use Martin EC light gauge strings on this guitar and with these strings, the highs shimmer like a piano. With the smaller body size and cherry back/sides do not expect over powering bass tones. The low E and A strings decay nicely and provide a slightly plunkier tone unlike a larger Martin Grand Performance body size. I've often wondered why Martin released this stock picture of the guitar. In person, the wood choices are stunning. The Sitka top is a grade 3 top and with the aging toner, it looks absolutely stunning in person. The neck is a bit flatter and wider than some so those with moderate or larger hands will love it. I have several Martin guitars including a few custom shops and prototypes but this OCM Cherry is my go-to guitar for every day playing and recording. If I was forced to sell all but one of my guitars, this would be the keeper.

OMC Cherry

By Rick Rocco

from Averill Park, NY

I had to purchase this guitar based on other reviews, since it was not stocked in any local guitar shops. Considering the price, that was a little scary. So after some research I went to the Guitar Center and ordered it and had it shipped to them, that way if there was any problem with the guitar, they would take care of it. I am a very average player; but I can tell you that if any instrument can inspire you to get better, this is it! Not only is this guitar a masterpiece of design; but it is the very easy to play. It was set-up perfectly right our of the box, just a quick tune and play. A friend of mine who plays professionally put it through it's paces and was also amazed. The action is very quick and the sound acoustically is amazing. Martin has done wonders with the OOO series. Plugged in this guitar is like no other, the Ellipse Aura system is in a class of it's own. The depth and sound quality is amazing. I know this guitar is a little pricey; but it is money well spent. I can't put it down!
