Overview

Built on traditional styling and legendary Martin tone, the DRS1 acoustic-electric is one of the most affordable solid wood models they offer. Constructed with sapele top, back and sides for a very mahogany-like warmth most acoustic players crave with a bit more love on the high end. The modified, low-oval neck profile, paired with the hand-applied natural oil finish, make it a smooth transition along the black Richlite fingerboard. Other appointments include a black boltaron endpiece, white bridge and end pins with black dots, black pickguard, single ring rosette and a Fishman Sonitone undersaddle pickup. While the DRS1 doesn't have a ton of aesthetic extras, it's a solidly built dreadnought that is sure to make you happy to call your own for years.

Comments about Martin Road Series DRS1 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar on December 26 and haven't set it down yet! I wanted to learn finger style and found my Epiphone Dove just too hard to play and fret, plus I didn't like the trebley sound it had. My wife said I could get whatever I wanted for my 50th birthday so I went to the closest Guitar Center and started playing guitars in my price range. It was between a Taylor 114 and the DRS1, but in the end I liked the more bassier sound of the Martin. This guitar is easy to play with pick or fingers and is easy to fret. The amount of pressure required to press down on the frets is minimal compared to the Dove, plus it just sounds GREAT! This will be the one guitar that I keep forever right next to my Les Paul. If you're on the fence about this don't be; run out and pick one up. You won't regret it.

Compared to all of my other guitars, this has to be the best Jam out, played at a few small concerts, and practiced for upcoming events.

Comments about Martin Road Series DRS1 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

A fellow strummer once told me that owning a better instrument makes you want to be a better player. That is certainly true with this guitar. Owning Martin is something I've dreamed of, but never thought I could afford until now. Sure, Martin now makes guitars nearly in all price ranges, and yes, this model is made in Mexico, but with the excellent financing available through GC, I am now a proud owner. Is it a D28? Nope, but it sounds great, with rich bottoms and clean highs. Go in and play one; you'll be surprised how much sound comes from a sub-$1,000

Comments about Martin Road Series DRS1 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I had to sell a used Martin D-28 back in September of 1999 to pay some emergency expenses. I've always pined for that guitar, until now. My wife surprised me recently with the purchase of the Martin DSR-1. I can't say enough good about this guitar. Playability, sound, quality ... you name it. All top notch and what you'd expect out of a Martin. I think it honestly plays better than the D-28 I had. Quite possibly the best guitar I've ever owned. Love it. I'll never part with this one.

Comments about Martin Road Series DRS1 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've always been a Gibson guy. Learned to play on dads 49' L5. Just finished a new CD with Rhythm Download Band and we used a 74' Gibson Heritage with sweet playability and sound. Was sure to get a Gibson singer songwriter for 2800.00 but went to GC and played one and didn't overly impress. I was at a loss. Met a Friend at GC lot, threw back some absinthe and jager, went into the acoustic room and quickly tried 20 high end models from Gibson, Taylor, and Martin. One clearly stood out in tone and playability above any price range, even includes hard case. So I bought a 2016 Road Series DRS1 Martin. Apparently price does not determine everything. They stumbled on an Sapele African mahogany legend here. Wow, how sweet it plays and sounds. Still respect Gibby's though.
