Comments about Martin Road Series 2015 000RS1 Auditorium Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Let's start with the Guitar, I'd give if 4.5 stars but the customer service gets zero stars... negative stars. For that I had to bump it down. Guitar plays great and if you really want a martin but don't want to break the bank by all means get this one, just don't get it at Guitar Center or Musicians Friend. First off I have two problems with false advertising on this one. To start at the time of purchase, and of this review, the description claims this guitar to have a solid sitka spruce top while it is clearly sapele, verified by Martin. I brought this to the attention of a "supervisor" at their call center and that is when I stopped hearing back from them. I stopped hearing from them because there were problems before this. First when I ordered this guitar it was available. After several days waiting for a confirmation email I called them up and they confirmed that my order had "gotten stuck in limbo" but they assured me it would ship out the next day. It didn't so I called back, everyday for a week. After the week the rest of their inventory shipped out and now it was backordered. This was irritating but what was more frustrating was while I waited they ran a promotion for a free box of Martin string worth almost $200 if the order was placed before a certain date. By this time I was in regular communication with a "supervisor" named Faren. I brought it to her attention that I believed that since I had placed my order before the date, and the order still had not been fulfilled I should qualify for the promotion. This was also after a Martin rep confirmed that all the other site including theirs were correct that this guitar did not have sitka spruce top. So I included that information in the email with my request to have the promotion applied to my order. I never heard back, several more emails went out, but I received not a single reply. I work at a JD Power certified call center and I can assure you that nobody should stand for being lied to and ignored. Overall I give Guitar Center a F- for their service and can guarantee that they have lost the business of myself and all of my musician friends.
