Enhanced "Easy Mode" Simplifies Operation
F1 Aura+ offers a simplified set of user controls called Easy Mode. This mode allows you to quickly get a feel for the tonal possibilities of F1 Aura+ while providing quick access to the most important features you'll need every day.

Simply press the Tone control to step through 3 custom-blended Aura Image presets as well as audition the uneffected, Gold Plus pickup sound. The one-knob Tone control blends between a natural, undersaddle sound with no EQ (flat) on up to a "scooped" tone with emphasized treble & bass and reduced midrange.

Same great performance and power
For the real tone-tweakers, we've retained the original Performance Mode as well, giving you full access to F1 Aura's powerful 3-band EQs, compressor and automatic anti-feedback. Includes case.

Too Much Plastic

By James

from Denver, Colorado

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series OMCPA1 Plus Cutaway Orchestra Model Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I currently own several upper end guitars including Taylor, Martin and Gibson and have played for almost 35 years. I have always loved Martins and treasure my HD-28. When the Performing Artist series first came out I was excited to see a whole new, modern line from Martin, and I almost bought one of the first OMCPAs. Although I thought the series was a thinly veiled knock off of the Taylor 800 series, I was impressed by the sound, playability, and fit and finish of the new guitars. Then Martin started loading down their guitars with plastic. Acrylic headplate, Richlite fret board, Richlite bridge, and Tusq saddle - all plastic, and worse, plastic looking. I don't consider myself a die-hard purist, but for a street price $3,000, I at least expect real wood. I know ebony has become increasingly expensive and hard to get, but there are other alternatives besides plastic, and most of the other major competitors are using them. Don't buy into the marketing hype, if it is made from chemicals, is moldable and gives off toxic fumes when it burns, it IS plastic. I also worry about the fret board separating from the neck if you live in an area of very high, or very low humidity since the real wood neck will expand and contract to environmental conditions whereas the plastic fret board will not. Overall the Performing Artist is a good attempt, but Martin missed the mark by failing to find natural alternatives at least for the fret board and bridge. My advice is to spend an extra couple of hundred dollars and go for a Gibson or Taylor. At least you'll get real materials and a guitar of equal or better quality, playability and sound.

What a beautiful guitar!

By PETER MCLAUGHIN

from Margate, NJ

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series OMCPA1 Plus Cutaway Orchestra Model Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I spent weeks on the Martin wedsite looking at guitars. Then I called every authorized dealer in my area with a list of guitars that I wanted to try. Well, no one carried the high end Martin's. I went to my local Guitar Center and played one of the Martin's on display, played a Guild and a Taylor. All with in the price range of about 1500 to 1700 dollars. I didn't get excited. I bought the OMCPA1 Plus and had it shipped to the store. Just in case. When I came back to look at it, I was like a little boy on Christmas. The case is beuatiful. Then I opened the case and there sat a piece of art. I played two chords, put it back in the case and carried it out of the store, heading home. This is why the Big Musicians play Martin's. Wow! ...... :)

End of the upgrade path in Tacoma

By David Scheall

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series OMCPA1 Plus Cutaway Orchestra Model Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

My first Martin was an OM-1GT about 2 years ago. Then I traded up for a Jumbo PA4 rosewood and then about 6 months after that, traded up that guitar for this one. I have to say the value and play ability of a Martin held through from the low end om-1gt with the stratobond neck to here. Each guitar progressed a step up in the beauty, craftmanship and ultimately tone to the PA1 series. Even though the PA4 and the PA1 are both sitka spruce and rosewood, and they both have a version of the fishman aura f1 preamp, the PA1 sounds far better plugged / unplugged than the PA4 or OM-1GT, almost like having an electric among acoustics. Thanks to guitar Center for allowing me to buy what I can afford at the time, taking it back later as part of a trade up allowing me to end up with a instrument like this one in the end. This guitar looks beautiful, sounds and plays beautiful. Everything about this guitar is beautiful. The DVD documntation provided was for the Fishman aura preamp. This guitar actually has the Fishman Aura + preamp and the correct DVD documentation for this preamp can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2EG7iAtlcA I am very happy with this guitar. I feel lucky to have gotten mine from the professional musicians and sales people at the Tacoma Guitar Center. No matter where you get yours, you will be happy too. Thanks Matt and everyone in Tacoma.
