Overview

One of Martin's most affordable Performing Artist models, the GPCPA5 is available in a Grand Performance body size with a solid Sitka spruce top, koa-patterned high pressure laminate back and sides, High Performance Neck and Fishman's F1 Analog electronics. Using advanced construction techniques, Martin is able to produce this fine guitar with a sound that rivals models costing much more.

Fishman's F1 Analog preamp system
The F1 Analog has 2 control knobs and one display. By pressing the volume button down for 2 seconds the tuner is activated. The innovative one-knob tone control lets you choose between a natural, undersaddle sound with no EQ (fully counter-clockwise) on up to a "mid- scooped" tone with emphasized treble & bass and reduced midrange. Pressing the tone knob repearedly cycles through various phase settings that improve bass response while aiming to suppress unwanted feedback.

Case sold separately.

  • Fishman's F1 Analog features
  • Volume Control

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series 2015 GPCPA5K Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

My first guitar in over 30 years and I'm extremely happy with it as I spent a few weeks deciding on either a Martin, Taylor, Seagull and Breedlove. Knew I couldn't go wrong with either of them but deep down felt this Martin was for me. Lucky for me I have a few buddies who are longtime players and they assured me I've made the right choice. As a tradesman of 30 years with arthritic hands this Martin is easy on the fingers!

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series 2015 GPCPA5K Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have several years playing, I'm primarily a bassist; but from some years I've been playing a lot of guitar (acoustic and electric). Nevertheless now I'm into an acoustic project and wanted a guitar that could be easy to play and that have a great sound plugged.

This guitar is amazing, YES has a lot of man made materials... but that was also something I was looking for, I mean is good to know that you are not harming the earth more because of a guitar. Martin has a great green policy and great values.

The back and sides are like a "premium" laminate, it won't scratch and made a light weight guitar.

The top and the scalloped X bracing is wood (spruce), it is not attached to the rest of the body (to deliver a low cost I guess). You can see it because of the finish, and even though it hears awful the construction is extremely well engineered.

It is a lightweight guitar, so you can play it for hours and hours and doesn't feel like it.

The strings are good also, easy to play and has a good handling and feel on the neck.

The real win of this guitar is the electronics... my god!!! The acoustin sound is beautiful and when you plugged in, the real tone of the guitar is what you get.

Don't be affraid and give it a chance you won't be dissapointed.

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series 2015 GPCPA5K Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I will use this guitar tuned to A440 for stage gigs. I Have another Martin that I tune down 1/2 step for challenging vocals and a 1973 Signet that I tune to open G for slide.

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series 2015 GPCPA5K Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. On board tuner is great but I still like to use my Snark because it feels a bit more accurate than the on board tuner. It's been great to practice with and the tone is lovely especially with the Martin strings.
