Overview

The 1930s were a particularly unpleasant time for many Americans. A factory worker lucky enough to have a steady job brought home $34 a month. A school teacher saw a respectable $100 a month, while a doctor or lawyer may have brought a staggering $300 home to the family. These were the fortunate ones who could count on something regular each month to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads. Everyone else held on tight and looked for heroes ... on the stage, on the screen, on the radio, anywhere. Heroes were larger than life, and heroes meant hope. Some even said no one would ever be paid more than Babe Ruth in 1930. America needed heroes.

Consider that $20,000 coach-built cars with names like Rolls-Royce, Bugatti, and Duesenberg represented unattainable opulence compared to the average $500 automobile - a luxury in its own right. A movie was a 25-cent escape, a harmonica was $1, and a proper guitar was $8 or $10. If you played guitar in 1930, you may have even heard a fantastic tale about a Martin costing upwards of $225. The OM-45 Deluxe. You only heard about it, but you never saw one because there were just 11 made in 1930. Almost ninety years later, most enthusiasts will never see an original OM-45 Deluxe- there is handful believed remaining in existence today.

The OM-45 Deluxe was royalty among all guitars of the era. Roy Rogers played one - youd be hard pressed to find a bigger hero. He was larger than life to many, and his guitar drove that point home every bit as hard as the Bambino could swing a bat. The OM-45 Deluxe became the stuff of legend for almost every reason imaginable. Most importantly it was rare and it was real and it embodied every singular quality the aficionados now consider to be Martin's "Golden Era". Its the definitive masterpiece ... period.

The 2015 "OM-45 Deluxe Authentic 1930" “ limited to 11 instruments - draws its inspiration and exacting specifications from the 1930 OM-45 Deluxe acquired at the Guernseys Instrument Auction in April 2014. Its Serial#44999. Its real and its on display today as a masterpiece among the C.F. Martin & Co Museum Collection in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. This careful recreation faithfully employs the most traditional construction techniques and materials available today with specifications rivalling the original from 1930. This instrument also benefits from Martins Authentic V.T.S. top and bracing; the heavily researched advanced aging process that most accurately reproduces the visual character - and most importantly - the sonic performance of the coveted 20's and 30's instruments.

A lucky few owners around the world will experience this remarkable instrument. Sadly, and once again, most enthusiasts will never see an original 2015 OM-45 Deluxe Authentic 1930 - there is only a handful in existence today. Theyre rare and theyre real and they embody the finest qualities and timeless traditions of the luthiers' craft. The Martin tradition since 1833.

I just started playing guitar less than a month ago, and that's all I've been doing ever since. My first guitar was this "Brownie" Stratocaster that was supposedly owned by this Eric Clapton guy or whatever. Anyway, After playing the guitar for a while, I decided that playing electric guitar doesn't fit me, the stratocaster didn't even work, it wasn't even loud like other guitars. There was also a strange metal hole on the bottom of the side of the body. I ended up selling it to this guy for around $75-80, since it looked a bit worn out and used. The buyer seemed pretty excited, but he's going to be pretty disappointed. I went onto this website and came across this lovely guitar. Now, $79,999 may be a tiny bit over my original budget, but since I had quite the amount of experience by then (about 25 days), I felt like I deserved this guitar. I was absolutely right. Worth every penny. It is an amazing guitar, it can be used anywhere, for anything. From playing "Wonderwall" to scraping off gum from my flip flops, this is truly the swiss army knife of guitars. Another great perk is that it came in a box, which is convenient because I now sleep in that very same box. Overall, this is a great guitar for everyday practical use, and is very durable.

I was jamming with my great pals slash,Eric Clapton, and Gene Simmons when we were looking for a great guitar that was super expensive so we could brag and be snobby when talking about it. Long story short this was not what we were looking for, it sucks , we could make better music with the box than the guitar
But it still looks good in my Bugatti so 3 stars

Comments about Martin OM-45 Deluxe Authentic 1930 VTS Acoustic Guitar:

After watching Curly use guitars as snowshoes while "Rockin' Thru The Rockies" with Moe and Larry, I just had to try it. The OM-45 Deluxe Authentic 1930 VTS model was the best, hands down (or should I say feet down?), and was a nice tip o' the hat to that wonderful 1930s Three Stooges era. Who knows, perhaps Curly himself used this model -- think about it! He may have even had the opportunity to use many of them, depending on how many takes they did! Stepping into each one made the most delightful "crunch" and the fit was stellar. I could snowshoe for hours without even a hint of a blister. Unfortunately, however, they are starting to wear and will need to be replaced soon. When that time comes, I will purchase another pair without hesitation!

Comments about Martin OM-45 Deluxe Authentic 1930 VTS Acoustic Guitar:

As a complete beginner I was looking for a super cheap affordable guitar that I could just mess around with. For the price this thing is great. Only had to use all off my college savings, take a 30,000$ loan and work minimum wage for the next 75 years to pay it off. This was all worth it. Love the guitar and the price makes it even worse. Also wondering if it's a problem that the bottom 20% of the guitar is cracked, probaly not though.

I am the owner & chairman of a large corporation, that I inherited from my father. I keep this guitar in my office.Whenever I fire or lay off someone. After I give them the bad news. I play this guitar while singing
"Happy Trails", as they are leaving. Just like dear old Dad did, back in the depression in the 30's.
Gotta go now, kinda getting choked up.

One of the few guitars that will instantly make you want to play all day and all night....Christmas thru Labor Day. This magnificent Masterpiece will inspire and awe even the most discerning of ears. Initial pickup of this guitar convinced me that I just bought endless hours of labor with impeccable detail to acoustics and craftsmanship. This guitar will create new friends, jealous enemies, and invitations to popular concerts. Play only during hot humid days to appreciate the sweat and blood that went into the purchase of this guitar. Although you may finance over 24 equal payments, I strongly suggest spreading it over 24 high limit credit cards instead. Pick one up today! Borrow from your 401k, get a 2nd mortgage, do whatever it takes! This limited edition beauty will not last long, although your chapter 11 might.

I browsed guitar center in the cheapest price range I could find, and found this beauty. For the price it was at I couldn't believe how amazing it was. It played JUST LIKE a professional guitar, and trust me, I trained people to the likes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Dumbfounded I was that it was so incredible for such a great price. I would 100% recommend this to anyone who scraps by on minimum wage.

Great guitar, a little cheap for the price. I would recommend this to a friend who was a beginner.

I figured that if I got myself a G.C credit card, it would improve my credit. Man, was I right on the $$. Finance charges, blaahhhhh, who cares. I dont even know how to play guitar, its still sitting in the box, I think. I forget where I put it. The one time I did play it, I tried that thing where you whip it around your neck. Thank god my dog was behind me and cushioned the blow. It did make a great sound when it hit her in the face, very bright sounding. Regardless, The box looks very nice and my friends think I know how to play. When I say I have a guitar, the panties drop..

At first I was skeptical about buying this because that is my whole life's savings. Then I remembered my Father gave me a small lone of a million dollars... So I bought it.

The reason it is so expensive is because. More than an ocoustic guitar. It has the quality of many different instruments. I used it as a bass guitar one time... it sounded nice. I used it as a violin and it still stayed in tune. Lastly I used it as a washboard for my clothes because I live on the streets... I a broke. The box it came in is now my home. Please send help.

I'm an avid camper, and I've been looking for a guitar that I can just "bum around" with at the campsite, play around the campfire, etc. and not have to worry about it getting any bumps or dings. Needless to say, this is the one! I don't understand the bad reviews on this guitar; I've had mine for a good week and a half and haven't had any problems. I also have a Rogue acoustic, but I'd prefer not to take that one out since it's too valuable to me. For what I was looking for, this guitar fits my needs! It's like an arpeggiator and accordian all wrapped into one! Overall, great "campfire guitar"... also good for writing Rap Lyrics on
