The only acoustic string I use

Beautiful acoustic tune for strumming and picking, looooong life span, able to withstand my sweaty hands makes this the only acoustic strings I use.

I've been using these strings since I started playing guitar. I liked them at first; they have a fairly bright sound and good feel... to a beginner's ears and fingers. A few months ago I tried out Martin Silk and Steels. I loved them. Yesterday I changed out my strings and put on these- the Martin lights. Now that I've been playing for a while, I can hear that the sound clangy and hollow. I was trying to tune them today and play with a capo on... it seems like already the intonation is off. These are good beginner strings and they're very durable (I've never once broken a string), but once you've been playing for a while, I'd say move on.

Great strings!

By haushinka924

from Sewell, NJ

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I play these strings on an Ibanez AEF Acoustic-Electric. They are the best sounding acoustic guitar strings I've ever heard. The light gauge makes it easy for small hands to press down on the fret board, and they sound just as great as heavier gauges. It also takes a long time for these strings to rust/lose tone. Great value!

These sound great

By ginthe404

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I have been playing either these strings - Martin SP Light, or the Custom light SP strings from Martin for the last 4 years. I love the way they sound and they play nice. If you like light strings give these a try.

Best of Best - If Only Coated Too!

By bobrexy

from Burr Ridge, IL

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

In my 31 years of playing guitar, I've found these to be the finest strings make and sold on a commercial level for all types of acoustic guitar playing. I strum, chord, and play leads and do bass runs and these have held up the best and retained tone the longest. Martin used to make a coated one called SP+. What happened? They lasted even longer, but I can't find them anymore.

Decent strings so far, terrible packaging.

By Maurice

from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I restrung my Martin 000X1AE after nearly two months of daily usage and i'm happy (thus far) with the results. The tone is sharp and crisp with a touch of shimmer to it. My only gripe is with the packaging-Why didn't they just sort each string in its own pouch? Their site says they are trying to be "environmentally conscious", but i'm sure adding three more paper pouches to the pack wouldn't have hurt anything as i'm sure they waste more than enough trees while making their guitars. Also, if you're not careful, the strings will flop out the pack and could potentially crimp.

Cost effective/no compromise!

By Gregory Laboissonniere

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I love the Martin Acoustic SP Phosphor Bronze Strings. In the summer I play outdoor shows in Ocean areas and the salt air does a job on strings! The SP's stay bright and fresh and for the money they can't be beat.

best strings for your money

By iowaismine

from iowa

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

The only thing I don't like about Martin guitars is that they keep trying to improve on perfection. While it may seem noble, it just can't be done. The Martin SP acoustic strings are perfection. They are the best string you can buy for your money. They have developed the SP+ (which I see no noticable difference), the Marquis (which I don't get) and the newest Martin SP Marquis (which I sucked the tone right out of my guitar). The Acoustic SP are just as brilliant as the standard Martin strings when you first put them on your guitar, but that golden tone lasts longer with the SP's. I can't vouch for breakability because I rarely break a string and that usually has to do with playing too hard or a problem with your setup and not the string itself. These are long lasting, bright and durable strings. Best you can buy.

Nice strings

By Perry

from Fort Collins, CO

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I use the Martin MPS4100s on my DC16-RGTE. Phosphor-bronze has higher overtones, which work nicely with the deep resonance of the Martin Dread. The strings last for several months before they're too stretched. Do yourself a favor and put a fresh set of strings on your guitar - they sound great!

really good strings

By Jojo

from Montgomery, AL

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I've used Elixir Phosphor Bronze for years and have always been happy with it. However, I tend to break strings quite often (once every other week). I've even replaced the saddle. It got to where it was getting too expensive to keep using Elixir. I started experimenting with different brands of light strings - long process, short explanation, the SP4100 satisfied my picky taste. The SP hold it's tune for a long time - they seem to last longer, and I don't break them as much. For price and value, I can't hear much difference between the SP and Elixir.

String Perfection

By JAMES ASHCRAFT

from Texas

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I have tried almost every brand of reputable strings on the market, but the Martin 4100's are the best in quality, bar none. I play them regularly on my Takamine Jumbo 6 string, and they just sound fabulous! I also play them on my 2 Yamaha's, and am equally satisfied. I play 5-7 days a week, 1-3 hours per day, and I could not be happier with the sound quality these strings produce.

Great sounding strings

By ramlax13

from NJ

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I have been playing acoustic guitar for over three years, and I have never found better strings than these Martin SP's. I use them on my washburn guitar and the sound I get out of them sounds just as good as my bandmates Martin Guitar with Elixir strings. The price is very reasonable also. These strings will also last you a long time unlike some cheaper strings I have tried. You can't go wrong with Martin products, and that holds true with these strings.

Decent Strings

By ali

from FLA

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I bought these strings a couple of months ago and was satisfied with them at first. I am a beginning guitarist and so I am playing easily 3 hours a day. They didn't last as long as I wished, but they are a really good set of strings for a good price

great strings

By dai

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

These strings are amazing - they stay bright for a while, and they never break on me. I was using elixers for a while, but I broke so many strings, and they got really expensive...these strings solved all of my problems. They sound amazing, feel amazing, and don't look weird like the regular bronze ones. I have strung up a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe with these for years, and I still swear by them!

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I used to play elixirs, but due to the expensive price and how easily they break, i decided to try some new strings. I bought these strings and the first time i played, i was amazed

Great tone and life.

By Brian Hendershot

from Indianapolis

Comments about Martin MSP4100 SP Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I was sick and tired of how fast my EJ16's would die so I tried these based on reviews and research. I am truely amazed at the tone quality and life of these strings. They sound perfect of my Stonebride DS-40. I highly recommend them for value and tone.
