Martin MSP4100 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings are ideal live, in the studio, or wherever maximum string life is desired. The creation of these high-performance strings is a result of research done in cooperation with specialty steel producers. Due to the development of an industry leading ultra-high quality steel core, Martin SP strings resist breakage better than average strings. In addition, both the core wires and the plain strings are plated with a smooth, acoustic bronze finish. Though this golden bronze finish does enhance the beauty of your guitar, its purpose is much more functional - to prolong brightness, string life, and superior tonal quality to meet the high expectations of demanding musicians.

I bought these to go n a cigar box guitar that I had just built. I had been using extra light electric guitar strings at first, but they were a little "dainty" and didn't produce the sound I was looking for. I switched and these strings gave a much richer sound and I like the feel. I am fairly new to guitars and these strings seemed to stretch a lot when I first put them on. I had to re-tune every few minutes the first day, but after about 4 days they started holding their tuning and needing only minor adjustment each day. I would definitely buy these again. Also, they do give you the 'black fingers' after playing for a while, but I am told that is normal.
I tried these and just switched. I play a lot of acoustic gigs (>150/yr) so I go through a lot of strings, especially with outdoor gigs in the summer. I never like the tone/feel of coated strings like Elixers or similar. The best tone and longevity I could find were the D'Addario EJ-16s, which were the only thing I've used for years. I tried these new Martin SP strings after getting some on sale at GC, intending to use them on my backup instruments. Sounded good enough that I put them on my main guitar. Really impressive. Tone very similar, but longevity was better than the EJ-16s. I've since switched in last few months to just using these. Very happy with them and some good deals to get them at a nice price.
