Great Strings

By MIZFITZ XXX

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have used these strings for my acoustic guitar and they do not break that offen. They first hurt when you play the first 4 minutes, but then they don't bother you after that. They are great strings.

Work great for me.

By Rick

from tampa Florida

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

For the last 3 years I've played a weekly 3-hour strolling musician gig, using a well-set-up old Yamaha acoustic with a Martin bridge pickup & mini-amp. Since playing 3-hours straight can be hard on the fingers, I decided to try Martin Silk & Steels. I wish I'd tried them sooner. They're not the loudest and don't work well with all guitars and players, but with my setup they have a sweet sound both acoustically & through the pickup. They last pretty long and I've never had a breakage problem.

Great Strings

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Great strings. Very smooth, sweet sound. Decent string life, but with age they sound very dull.

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

A great choice for new players, vintage instruments, finger style, or hand conditions.

Silk & Steel strings are incredibly flexible and easy to play. They have their own mellow tone consistent during its life span. Those new to acoustic, want to preserve vintage guitars, have hand conditions, play finger style, or desire to have a mellow tone look no further.

    Great Strings!

    By Just another OEF Vet

    from Arizona

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are great strings! They sound nice, clear, and are easy to play on. The wrappings are a finer guage to reduce finger/string noise, and it really works. I enjoy playing my dread with them on it.

Great tone and saves your fingertips

    By shaheed shabazz

    from NY, NY

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are great strings if you haven't yet developed callous. They are soft to the touch, which will increase the amount of time you play the guitar. And decrease the rawness of your finger tips. I recommend them to my students all of the time.

    Martin; Silk & Steel String

    By Leonard Perry

    from Tampa, FL

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I recently purchased a Seagull S6 guitar from Guitar Center. My sales man was fantastic, and suggested that I also purchase a second set of stings. He recommended the Martin Silk & Steel. When I replaced my strings, I found that the Martin Silk & Steel gave the guitar a nice sound, and they were a little easier on my fingers. I figured the next time I made an online order from Guitar Center that I would order a few extra sets - I rate them a 5 star, and you would too if you tried them. Highly recommended.

    Love these! But be warned...

    By Joanna

    from Athol, MA

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are great strings but beware, they're like a very fine gauge and so are VERY flexible. This means that if you're heavy handed, they'll deflect easily and make your work sound out of tune. You need to use a very light hand with these. They have a nice bright sound to them.

The Perfect String - for my needs

    By Bob

    from Fairfield CT

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing since 1964, humm, that makes me older than I care to remember, but 1964 was Bob Dylan and the Beatles, not to mention that radio play EVERYTHING--R&B, Souls, Pop, Rock, Folk, and everything else. But I digress. I mostly play acoustic these days and I find these string are an amazing balance between sound, ease-of-pay, and price. Thank you Martin!

    On and On

    By Thomas Marek

    from Stickville, RI

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Been using folk silk & steel on my 1968 Yamaha FG180 for close to 20 years and i agree with the positive reviews on this site. I might add that i have never had one of these strings break that i can remember. When they are fresh they have the sweetest tone and definitely are easier on the fingers. These are also superior to the marquis silk & steel.

    Best Strings out there.

    By JONATHAN MEADE

    from Dalton, GA

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These strings are tonally the best strings on the market. They feel buttery and amazing when playing the guitar. They haven't broken yet and it's already been a week! For .0115 strings, that's unreal in my book (if you're actually playing the guitar). BUY THESE, you won't be disappointed.

    Great Guitar Strings

    By Leonard Perry

    from Tampa

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

As someone who hasn't played in many years I was very pleased that these Martin strings were recommended for me to use on my new Seagull 6Original guitar. I was told that they would feel easier on my fingers, which they do, rather than other strings. I will continue to purchase theses strings when my guitar needs to be re-stringed.

    Bing !

    By dave maresh

    from yucca valley CA

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Yeah, I really like these silk and steel Martin strings. They go bing ! They are great for any kind of play, but just right for folk accompaniment. I'm going to use them from now on because they have the perfect feel and they just go bing! They actually last longer than most strings. Very satisfying to play.

    what I think...

    By jeffreyjames

    from Minneapolis

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are the only strings I buy now. I find them to be much less harsh on your fingers than marquis. They are nice and flexible. I think they've even got a nice sound when using a slide. I don't think you should give strings a bad review because you had one break. It happens from time to time. Even on new strings. It doesn't mean the strings are bad, it means the specific set you bought were sitting at the music shop too long, or you wound them too fast and aggressively. I don't think I'll be switching strings anytime soon. And another thing... I used to change strings when one broke, but I've been using M130's for 2 years now, and I've only broken one string in that entire time. I have a string that is being held together by the core in 4 places, the winding is completely gone, and it still lasted for an entire show (I'm not sure how long it could have gone because I just replaced all my strings later that day. I will say that they are great strings for any acoustic player, but especially for those like me, who never play with a pick. Once you get a feel for them it's like these strings and your fingers have some special bond. What can I say, just try them. You might love them, and if you hate them you've only wasted 6 bucks, right?

Great strings for a Nylon, Steel compramise.

    By Blah

    from Portland

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These strings give a tone that resembles a nylon strung classical guitar. However they create a compromise by including typical steel high e and b strings and slightly "steeler" wound nylon eadg strings. The result is a beautiful soft tone that works well for strumming and fingerpicking. The strings are rather soft so they may be a good starting point for beginners. Good folk strings, all I play with.

These strings have a great sound, and are soft to touch, they are easy to play, especially for beginners. But they have a beautiful sound even for the most advanced player.

    Love 'Em

    By wade

    from hanover, PA

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing for about 15 years now and these are the best acoustic strings I've ever used. I was tired of the sound and the tell-tale "brass odor" left on my fingers after playing my acoustic with regular phosphor bronze strings, so my local music shop owner suggested these babies and I have NEVER gone back. That was well over 10 years ago!! The tone is warm and sweet, very little to no "string noise", great sustain, and talk about durable! I 100% recommend these to anyone tired of bronze strings or anyone just looking to try something new. Take the chance, you won't be disappointed!

    Easier on fingers

    By Blackgrass

    from Chicago

Comments about Martin M130 Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These strings are definitely easier on your fingers. I'm somewhat of a beginner, and I know it takes time to build up the callouses on fingertips. However, these take the edge off, so that I can practice longer.
