Overview

Gauges 12-16-25-32-42-54.

If it's one thing Martin knows, it's finely crafted and vintage instruments. Martin created their Marquis line to pamper your guitar by adding a soft thread wrap at the ball ends which prevent wear and tear on the bridge and end plate as you play. This thread wrap puts a comforting layer of protection in place every time you change your strings.

These were the second set of strings i bought for my fender acoustic dg-8s, my first set came in the starter pack and there were apparently some of fender's best. After about a month i noticed a change in the sound whenever i played a G chord and Em E7 and E all sounded the same. So I went to my local Guitar Center and the salesman recommended these. After getting home and putting them on, I noticed a drastic change even from when i first got the fender strings. They lasted for three months and are some of the best I've ever heard.

These strings have a strange squeekiness on the top 4 strings(the wound ones). It's been there ever since I replaced them on my beater guitar, about 3 months ago, and it's still there. It just won't wear off. I would suggest getting Martin SP's, they're better than these.

Always amazed at how different the Martin M1100 vs. the M2100 sound on my Gibson J45. These make the guitar sing while the M2100 make it sound very tinny. Especially like the silk winding on the ball ends to protect this 40 year old guitar.

I was looking to get elixir strings for my acoustic guitar until one of the guitar center employees offered me a pack of 3 for just $10, I'm so glad I did, these strings gave me the exact sound I wanted.

Comments about Martin M1100 Marquis 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I LOVE THESE STRINGS... on my bright guitar. I had them laying around and didn't know what they were. They said 80/20 so I thought they would be good on my GA cedar/macassar ebony guitar. I immediately noticed that the guitar sounded softer and a little muted. The tone was good though, but not what I wanted for that guitar. So then I did research on the strings and realized that the material used to make the strings and the wrapped ball ends are responsible for that mellow tone.

I immediately knew I had to put these on my OOO Adirondack/Rosewood guitar which I find a bit obnoxious. Well I have found the best strings in the world for this guitar! The tone is so smooth, warm. The fingerstyle volume is softer than I would like though. These strings make this guitar sound so good. I never liked playing it really because the tone was just too much, but now I'm all in!

I regularly use these strings on my Ibanez acoustic/electric. The tone is pleasant and seems to last a good while. Overall a good set of strings.

                  A nice high-quality string

                  By Artie Wolff

from The northeastern part of the midwest

Comments about Martin M1100 Marquis 80/20 Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

A fine quality string with a nice warm, even tone. The silk winding at the ball end is a nice touch. I would have prefered that the strings were packaged in a sealed plastic pouch (like D'addario's), but the paper envelopes are said to be "corrosion-resisant" (we shall see). Two stings per envelope is a bit cheesy for a class company like Martin.
Martin Marquis Sttrings are certainly one of the better quality 80/20 bronzes that your likely to find.
I caught these on sale - it was indeed a spectacular deal. I bought ten sets!
