Bluegrass...Jam or Stage

By Alex F

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've been playing this guitar for 3 and a half years now, and have fallen madly in love with it. W/ medium strings, this guitar is mad crazy loud and a has a beautiful crisp sound perfect for bluegrass. The bass is very punchy, and the treble clear. You will be able to be heard in just about any jam with this guitar. W/ light strings, the tone rivals guitars that are much more expensive. But note: it's sound is very crisp, not as mellow as Martin's more expensive lines. It owes that to it's mahogony construction. IMO, that's perfect for lead playing. If you are looking for your first bluegrass guitar, or simply need a loud beater you can take to festivals without worrying about your 3500 guitar getting jacked, I highly recommend this axe. I play it in my bedroom, at jams, and on stage and I will say that for the money it can't be beat. I have also played the Blueridge guitars and lower-end Taylors, which are in the same price range. They don't stand up to a DM.

Martin MD

By Dave

from Bel Alton, MD

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

The first thing I noticed when I played this guitar was the sound the projected from the Dreadnought body. If you are looking for a guitar that is going to play along with other people, this is not the one. Because of the awesome projection this guitar will blow any other guitar away. The overall tone is top notch, up there with the best I have ever heard and is projected beautifully. The Martin DM provides a simple, yet attractive appearance with its Satin finish and inlay work. If you are looking for a guitar with that ?Martin quality tone? and simple, yet beautiful appearance- the DM is for you.

Great Bluegrass Guitar !

By Anonymous

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I absolutly love this guitar. It is for the money one of the best buys out there on the market today. This guitar is not set up with fancy adornments but plays and sounds like its higher prices brothers. I play bluegrass music and finding a great guitar for festival jam session is sometimes hard to do but the Martin DM does it for me. I dont think anyone would ever go wrong with this guitar it is a true value.

This is a really nice guitar

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar 10 years ago and didn't touch it due to family obligations. When I finally got it out, the action was way off and a few other things. I gave up on it. I tried to sell it cheap. Someone came over and was kind enough to set it all up for me (this had never been done). Viola!! A beautiful instrument was born and I am so glad I didn't sell her. The guitar practically plays itself (which is good in my case) the tone just rings on and on and I absolutely love the thing now, I keep admiring it and I will vow never to let it dry out again and to keep it in the mint condition that it is and to learn many new picking rythms. It's like an old friend came back me. I honestly think other guitars just sound tight and tinny compared to this guitar and the tone just isnt there in the lasting way. Very happy to be the owner.

Excellent Guitar

By AG

from new jersey

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is an excellent guitar. I have played many martins; ranging from some of the most expensive to the lowest priced, and this guitar stands up their with the most expensive as one of the best. It has the classic martin tone, with deep and moody lows and bright airy highs. It is a guitar that begs to be strummed. But also when fingerpicking it you get crystal clear notes and a sound that rings for ages. The sound projection is amazing and it keeps its tone if it is played loud or quietly. Playing this alongside the average acoustic guitar i can get more than twice the volume as them with barely any effort put forth on my part. I highly reccomend you buy this guitar.

sweet guitar

By Nate

from maryland

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I just bought this guitar about three months ago. Its great when I got it, but a few weeks later I put medium elixirs on it and it sounded three times better. Before this I had an Epiphone AJ acoustic it had good action and good sound for the price, but my DM blew it away! The sound on the Martin was so much richer. If your looking for a good acoustic for any style, this is the guitar you'll want

Martin DM

By Eric Larson

from Kaysville, Utah

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I have owned my Martin DM for over 5 years. It has been and still is a great guitar. If you are a beginner looking to take that next step to a quality acoustic that won't break the bank this is an excellent choice. It will give you the feel and sound of a quality acoustic and a tonal clarity that will improve your playing. Also, a great guitar to haul around for jam sessions and/or everyday songwriting. I recently added an LR Baggs M1A Active Soundhole Pickup which doubled the musical value of this guitar. It sounds beautiful!

True American Sound

By Alex Ferns

from Florida

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

My first top quality guitar is the 1997 DM (road series). I originally picked up my guitar because of its full sound and low action on the fret board. My Martin over the past 10 years has improved in all aspects, including the tone of the sound and the spruce top.It is great for strumming or picking. Top quality in every aspect.I would highly recommend it.

just gets better

By Ric

from Camp Hill, PA

Comments about Martin DM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I bought my DM three years ago. I thought it had great projection like the other reviews. In just three years of heavy play, my guitar plays easier and sounds better than ever. I own six other guitars that I am slowly selling off because I play them less and less. I was convinced that there might be better Martins, but that I surely got the best sounding DM. Then I tried other DM owners' Guitars. I was shocked. The consistancy of excellence seems to be in most DM. I have to admit I thought my DM was special amongst DM's. I guess not, but it sure is special to me. A can't miss purchase!
