I wanted a travel sized guitar that didn't sound wimpy. I've got a Felix Little Martin, and a Baby Taylor. They're both great guitars for what they are, but they have obvious limitations. Let's face it. This guitar is small enough to easily travel with, but also big enough to not wish I had brought one of the big boys. All solid woods, 1 3/4 nut width (which I can't seem to do without anymore), great construction, stays in tune, and awesome tone for what it is. The built in pickup is an added plus. Sounds great plugged in. Great for playin' on the couch or out by the campfire. No worries about ruining your beautiful lacquer finish either. If you're smaller in size, or not quite ready for a full size guitar, check out the Martin D-Jr. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I sure was.

I'm so frustrated with this guitar!! For some reason it keeps breaking. The sound at the store was amazing but when I brought it home, after a few days it broke down. It sounds like there's a key chain stuck to it. Not sure why this keeps happening, I mean this is the second one I exchanged. I really don't have the time to be traveling to the store to exchange or fix it so I'm very disappointed. Considering the price and the brand, I thought the construction would be of better quality. I had a Ibanez for 10 years and never had a problem, but I wanted to "upgrade" to something better. I don't know what to do anymore.

Comments about Martin DJRE Dreadnought Junior Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

As a worship leader, I was a 614 Taylor man since 2006. Always wanted a 3/4 size acoustic -- thanks Ed Sheeran. Just purchased the Martin Dread Jr over the Taylor Junior because of the amazing tone that I heard in the store - gotta love those acoustic rooms! The price of the Martin was a little better too! Looking forward to playing my Jr more and more. Can't wait to worship with it live!

Comments about Martin DJRE Dreadnought Junior Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Hard to believe the tone and bass sounds in a small travel guitar ,that the Jr delivers !!! Sounds like a full size dread. All wood and a great acoustic pickup by Fishman. Gig Bag included ,also Martin does make a hard case, but is expensive. This little guitar thinks it is a large dreadnought and sounds better than a lot of more expensive larger guitars and brand names on the market.Absolutely BLOWS AWAY the Taylor GS Minis. Has the Martin Tone through and through.Larger than most travel size guitars, but still small and in the travel class. Will hold it own with most dreads, Not as full sounding as a regular Martin dread, but not that far off. Perfect for recording and very stage ready. Martin has done a tremendous job on this one and it is made in MEXICO, hard to digest, but REAL .

Bought this fantastic Martin Dreadnought Junior E for my wife as a birthday present along with a Fishman small amp to play through. We have only played it at home so far but it feels and sounds great even though neither of us are great players at all. It makes a nice pairing with my HD28v.

Comments about Martin DJRE Dreadnought Junior Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I traded my LX1 in on the D Jr. I was looking for more of a Martin sound and I wasn't disappointed. I love that it's all wood and has that rich tone you would expect from a Martin. I did need to have the neck tweaked a little by a friend and I did change the strings to Accustic custom lights and now it sings! If your looking for an all wood guitar that won't break the bank this is the perfect guitar for you.

Comments about Martin DJRE Dreadnought Junior Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar at a local GC. I was looking for a guitar that I could strap to my back while riding a motorcycle. Maybe something inexpensive made with plastic... like a used Applause. Well, no used Applauses were available but this little jewel was. I was instantly intrigued by how comfortable it was to play and its fine tone. I told myself it was out of my price range and too fragile... then walked away. The next day I was back and when the GC opened I made my offer. The manager was a class act and made it happen. I've played this guitar at several gigs now and it continues to grow on me. Its become my most favorite guitar ever. Finger picking with all metal picks, thumb included, really makes this Martin sing. Now I don't think I could own any other brand or model. Its just that good.

Comments about Martin DJRE Dreadnought Junior Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I spent over a year doing the due diligence studying and comparing alot of acoustic guitars. I am primarily an electric guitar player, however my hiatus from playing has allowed me to time to reason where it is I want to go with serious study. I could have bought any guitar GC has to offer, but realistically I wanted a guitar that was comensurate with my skill level. I chose the Martin jr, because it suited me. It had the sound, feel, and portable size I was looking for. Yes, there are many popular options out there in the guitar world which stand on their own merit, but to each their own. Now that I have made the purchase I have spent a few hours in solitude with the instument. It delivers. The nuanced tones are prevalent, it literally chimes. The construction is excellent. I will admit a luthier's visit is in order to make a few minor adjustments, but for the price its a lot of guitar for the money.

Comments about Martin DJRE Dreadnought Junior Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Went to GC to play the Taylor GS Minis and select one for my 9 year old son's first guitar. We also wanted a small, transportable guitar to take along when we travel. I have two Taylor guitars that I've had for years and really love. I was playing the GS Minis and trying to select the best one for our application. I almost didn't even try the Martn, but something told me to pick it up. I am so glad I did, because Martin really stands out with this little powerhouse. It doesn't sound as nice as a full size guitar, and I wouldn't expect it to. However, this guitar sounds amazing considering the size. I strung it with light gauge Elixer Polyweb strings, shined it up a bit, and presented it to my son. He was totally excited to have his own guitar and wanted me to hook him up with an amp right away. We plugged it in to a Mackie powered monitor with no processing gear whatsoever. Bonus! The pickup is fantastic and produces a warm, realistic sound. If you are searching for a great sounding guitar in a small package, look no further. Martin really has created a winner here, and the price is more than fair considering what you get for your investment.

Awesome guitar! Smaller size is extremely comfortable and the sound is just what you would expect from a Martin solid wood guitar. If you are thinking of getting this one, you will not be disappointed!

Amazing and gives a full sound. Some travel guitars sound tinny but this one sounded great

I'm relatively new to guitar playing, but am an avid researcher of products. I own one other acoustic dreadnought which is an Ibanez AW54CE. I'm very happy with this purchase having bought into the Martin guitar mistique and I see, feel, and hear the difference. My Ibanez is a solid top full size dread and the only way I can describe the difference is that a Martin sounds like butter, or honey, or smoke (if you can turn that into sound). Now I know what they mean by "rich" sounding. Sonically louder does not describe fuller, like a higher watt audio speaker vs. a multichannel sound system. Martin is amazing. Why the 4 star review, and why am I comparing it to an Ibanez? Because my Ibanez was cheaper and quality control was better. I don't know what richlite is, but stinks, like literally. Some weird synthetic chemical smell kind of like raid bug spray. That's what my fretboard is made of and it makes my fingers stink. And I have bent low e tuning peg that wobbles when I rotate it. Stays in tune despite. Other than that I love my git box.
