Made In Mexico

By John K

from Lexington, SC

Comments about Martin DCX1KE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar sounds great and plays well without question but when I received the box, the first thing I saw was "Made in Mexico". It was a little disheartening. When I purchased a Martin, I expected what I seen online watching video of the plant in PA., I know this is not the most expensive guitar they make or the cheapest but my expectations was an American made guitar. I should have done more research. My main reason for purchasing a Martin acoustic was to hand it down to my grandchildren because I have friends who received theirs from their fathers or grandfathers, you know something to be proud of. Now I 'll hand down a Mexican production guitar with laminate sides and back with a laminated beam for a neck with a plastic fretboard. This is my opinion and only my opinion only. If you bought this guitar for a great sound, ease of play and a good price this is what you need, but if you bought this for the heritage of a Martin and the fine American workmanship of a well crafted guitar...you will be disappointed.

Best guitar you'll ever find in this price range.

By Guitarplayer

from NA

Comments about Martin DCX1KE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I made 6 trips to my local Guitar Center in Totowa, New Jersey and tested every single guitar in the acoustic lounged within the 400-1200 price range. I didn't want to go past 700 dollars, so i spent most of my time within that range. Trying every brand from Taylor, to Martin, to Breedlove, to Takamine, to Epiphone, you name it, I tried it. I decided on the Taylor 110-e, because it was an acoustic electric guitar and sounded decent. But on my last trip, I smelled something beautiful, literally. And it was a new Martin that i didn't try yet. Intrigued by it's delicious smell and it's petite body, I tried it. Right away, I noticed it's crisp, but not twangy, sound. It BLEW the Taylor 100-e out of the water. It's playability is also noticeable. The thin body allows you to strum easily. This Martin DCX1KE is my baby. It always will be.

Great Action

By Kevin

from Mansfield,MA

Comments about Martin DCX1KE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

You can smell the wood on this guitar. It has top notch quality and sounds beautiful. The action on this guitar is great, you can get that low bassy sound that you want. It sounds great acoustic as well as plugged in. It stays in tune and if it goes out then the built in tuner is your best friend. I have found that this guitar is the best I own. I am so pleased with it because of its divine tone. To sweeten the deal even more LOOK AT THE PRICE! It is the best guitar for the price range and it outdoes others that are more pricey. It is just so great and I love it! I dont think there is a better guitar on the market for a price like this. By far the best purchase of my life

Wow...

By Joseph A. Corbett

from Catskill, NY

Comments about Martin DCX1KE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Wow...I have owned six guitars in my life but this is my first Martin. Why didn't I spend the money sooner? The tone is incredible - it is light and humble yet full at the same time. I play weekly at church and all through the week. This guitar has this full mellow sound for an acoustic electric...the action is so smooth. I don't even plug in for church...it is that full of a sound that it carries without being harsh at all. It is also just fun to play with a couple of buddies...heck, it is just fun to play...I am very impressed. The Fishman pick up clarity is also the best I have ever heard. The guitar finish is also beautiful. For the money...an awesome buy! I will only buy Martin from now on...

This guitar was worth the trip...

By korean2nr

from Anchorage, Alaska

Comments about Martin DCX1KE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been doing some research for about a month. I tried to find the best guitar for my price range. The only way to do that was to play it myself. I flew from Anchorage, Alaska to Seattle, Washington and visited the SouthCenter Guitar Center. I played a few guitars like the Taylor 110-E, the Takamine EAN10C, Martin 000CXE, and then I played the Martin DCX1KE. After I played the DCX1KE, I bought it. The sound is so crisp and sharp. It also has a mellow tone too, not too bright. I also played it plugged in. It sounds even better. When I looked at the price, that made my decision so much easier. This guitar was worth the trip.
