The Search is OVER!

By Anthony Viola

from Colliers WV

I finaly purchased my first Martin Guitar. I tryed several guitars at Guitar Center for a few years but could not decide which one to buy untill I played the DC-16OGTE.It sounds great the action was perfect out of the box. For the price I paid for it there is none better. So if your on the fence about buying it go for it you won't regret it.

Worth it!

By Inspector G

from Atlanta, GA

I bought my DC-16 OGTE from the Lawrenceville, GA store last month (March 2011). I had been looking for a quality acoustic for some time and had played higher-end taylors, taks, and other Martins, too. I loved this guitar the first time I played it and those tone woods really go to work when your softly strumming as well as when you get on it a little bit (you can definitely hear that rosewood wedge bring out the punch). Plugged in, the on board Roland is versatile, easy to use, and can create 3 custom sounds at a push of a button. The Roland is light years better, in EVERY aspect, than this guitar's main competitor, the Taylor 310CE. Put some Elixir Nano-web extra lights on this thing and you truly are set.

Outstanding Acoustic

By Michael Aasheim

from Salt Lake City, UT

I purchased this guitar after playing nearly every guitar in the high end room at Guitar Center. After trying every Martin and Taylor, this guitar had the combination of tone and playability that I wanted. The action is excellent; it's very fast and the strings are close to the frets without any buzz on any section of the neck. That kills the deal for me if a pricey guitar has unwanted fret noise. I am fairly aggressive when I pick and this guitar handles my style quite well. I also play up the neck a lot and the tone doesn't diminish even playing in the dugout section. The tone is brighter than a dreadnaught however the construction of the guitar does give it some really nice low end tone. Sorry, but I cannot comment on the pickups as I use this guitar exclusively for recording and always use an external mic to record with. The tone for recording is exceptional; my reviews constantly comment on how great this guitar sounds. The tuning mechanisms are exceptionally crafted and never slip out of tune. The intonation is perfect even high up on the neck. The wood tone and finish are to die for. The appearance is beautiful and the craftsmanship is stunning. I will eventually get a Martin dreadnaught for a lower darker sounding second acoustic. If you need an acoustic with fantastic brighter tone, this is the guitar for you.

Under-the-Radar Gem!

By Matt

from NC

I just purchased this guitar after a long search that included all the "major" brands. If you've researched the DC-16OGTE, you know there aren't a ton of reviews, and I'm not sure why! This is an amazing instrument! The use of ovangkol, rosewood, and spruce give it an incredibly warm yet bright tone. Couple that with the new Roland preamp, and you've got an extremely versatile guitar. In this price point, I didn't play a guitar that came close.

Truly GREAT guitar!

By J. Bugajski

from Milford, Michigan

I own this guitar, and it's incredible. You cannot let the modern refinements sway your opinion. The Micarta fretboard is never sticky, it's smooth and will never warp or crack. The pre-amp is the best most versital unit available for the gigging musician, reverb, eq, body shape, it does everything it can to help YOU get EXACTLY the sound YOU want from an acoustic. 10 stars!!!

I bought this guitar on black Friday to replace my three series Taylor that just broke. I played every nice guitar in the acoustic barn before i made this decision. if you want a great acoustic, check this one out, best sound that i have played. Every ear is different, but to my ear this is the perfect guitar.
