I went into Guitar Center today looking around at guitars for a future purchase and after doing a lot of research. I had thought that my first "real" guitar was going to be a Taylor. I began to play some of the Taylors that were in my price range including the DN3, 100s, and 200s and decided to take a look at the Martin wall just to balance everything out. I went over there and began strumming on some of the spruce tops and instantly noticed a much "heavier" sound. As I was playing, a young employee came into the room and grabbed the ONLY brown guitar on both the Taylor and Martin wall. He started playing and the tone of the guitar made me stop and stare. He noticed I was looking for a guitar and put the beauty in my hands. He said this guitar came out of nowhere since that GC didn't carry that model anymore. I started strumming an E chord to see how well it could sing with all strings going. It sounded like a resonant piano with each string pushing through the mix. I then tested its folk ability by doing some Jason Mraz finger picking and this guitar performed. It has the brilliance of a great dreadnought but still has the warm and single string punch that makes for a great picking. The action is incredible with no buzzing at all! The scent of the mahogany really just adds to the experience of playing this thing. This guitar is stunning with its raw beauty in both sound and aesthetics. I fully recommend it to any one looking for a guitar in the $1000 price range with just a unique, multipurpose, and great tonal character. You will absolutely do no wrong with this guitar.

There's nothing like a Martin

By Soyjim

from Mishawaka, IN

Comments about Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I love Martin Guitars, and I love my Martin d-15. Nothing can match the full tone of a Satin finish Mahogany-top guitar. Tremendous bass makes it a wonderful finger-picking guitar, but stum the guitar and the high end rings out like any 3,000$ guitar you'll find. This is a great guitar at a great price, put a fisherman pickup in it and you've got yourself a thing of beauty.

Love my D-15

By Steve

from Covington LA

Comments about Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've had my D-15 since it was first introduced about 10 -11 years ago. I love the full warm rich tones as well as the feel and action. Over time the guitar has just gotten better and better. It stays in tune better than any guitar I've ever had. Tune it once and beat on it all night. EVERYONE that has played it has come away thourghly impressed, especially if I mention the purchase price. The unassuming satin finish always draws attention first and the D15 shiney spot I'm developing is like a badge of honor ( you D15 folks know what I mean). I've found that I can get a varity of sound caristeristics (always excellent) depending on the style of strings I use. The only downside is that the satin finish does tend to scratch eaisly (love bumps). Love my D15 I would buy it again

Great Martin for Low Price

By Martinfan

from Georgia

Comments about Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

The Martin D15 is an awesome guitar for the price. I find it's simplicity the best part. No other guitar out there looks the same as the all mahogany body of the d15. The finish is absolutely unbelievable and the d15 projects a sound that is mellow and warm. Its not flossy or ornate, its simple which makes it perfect for someone looking for their first serious acoustic guitar. The price is low compared to every other guitar of the same quality and even many guitars of lower quality. I would definately recommend this guitar to anybody who wants to buy their first quality guitar, or to somebody who is buying their fifth guitar and they want great quality, this guitar is a bargain.

Awesome LITTLE Guitar

By Jeff P

from Vancouver, WA

Comments about Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I have a D15 and there is simply not a better sounding instrument on the market. The only issue that I have is that is not quite loud enough. I have recently started playing rhythm guitar in a Bluegrass Band. When I start to "lean on it", it start buzzing. That however, just gives me a reason to get an HD28V. Excellent value for what you get.

Martin D-15

By Camoskid20

from Seymour, Tennessee

Comments about Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for about a year. I got it from my dad when he bought his Martin 12 String. This guitar is a great value, especially for the way it sounds. I have played several guitars that were 2,000 to 3,000 dollars and they did not sound as good as this one. I have to admit, it is not fancy, but that isn't what I play for, it is the sound that is more important to me.

Best Guitar I've Ever Played

By Lyn

from Eastern PA

Comments about Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've had this guitar since about 6 months after its introduction. I played it once in the store and dreamed about it several times after that...finally had the $$$ and purchased it, and am so glad I did - it is warm, full, and bright. Plays like butter and has held up really well. Great value on an American-made guitar by the masters at Martin!

Unequaled Rich Sound quality

By Jimbo

from Tallahassee, FL

Comments about Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've had my D-15 for nearly a decade and decided to buy it after thumb picking an open low E. That's it, one note. It was the 10th or 12th guitar I had played in a row, and playing that one string caused the guitar to "come alive" in my arms. The amount of rich, luscious sound that came floating up to my ears was second to none. I was guitar shopping with my friend, who was along just for the ride. Both of us walked out of the store with a brand new D-15. Yeah, it was that amazing.

Just try one!

By Adam Brannon

from Urbana, Ohio

Comments about Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Ive owned my D-15 for 3 years now. I always wanted one simply for the simplicity and uniqueness. Probably once every 6-12 months I think about buying another acoustic guitar. And every time, I never buy 1 because I cant find one for less than twice the price that sounds as good as this D-15. You owe it to yourself to try one!
