Overview

This unique custom dreadnought has all the drive and power you've come to expect from the Martin Custom Shop, but with some unique acoustic enhancements that are a must-have for any serious guitar collection. The folks at the Martin Custom Shop began designing this fine instrument by using one of their tried-and-true dreadnoughts, the Martin D-18. To give it a unique and warm tone, genuine mahogany was used for the top instead of spruce. The top was closely evaluated for its rigidity and sanded to a custom thickness to maximize volume, tone, and resonance.

The Custom Shop then selected a rear-shifted, scalloped 1/4" bracing layout to bring out the right amount of highs, while balancing the bass and mid range frequencies. The combination of top tonewoods and bracing pattern created an instrument that has the right amount of high-end chime, mid-range cut and low-end punch, producing a dynamic range for just about any musical situation.

Musician's Friend Private Reserve Custom D mahogany is perfect for fingerstyle, jazz, bluegrass, folk, and rock. Not only does this instrument sound incredible, it has a very elegant visual appeal. The appointments are not overstated: from an attractive paua style-41 pearl top with a paua style-45 rosette and a faux-tortoise pickguard that complements the mahogany top with just the right accents. We completed this masterpiece by binding the body with a stunning Madagascar rosewood, and a Magagascar rosewood headplate with C.F. Martin vertical logo in Paua pearl. Made by the some of the finest craftspeople in the industry, this guitar is sure to excite you and completely inspire your creativity.
