The Martin Custom Artist Series OMC-LJ Pro Acoustic Guitar owes it stunning beauty to the tonewoods specified by Laurence Juber. Juber selected flamed big-leaf maple to provide presence rather than brightness. The Adirondack spruce top provides the full bottom associated with vintage Martin tone, but paired with maple, the bass is much more defined and the mid-range more prominent and complex. The Martin OMC-LJ guitar also has a smooth, almost burnished quality at the high end.
A 2-piece maple neck”like that on many archtop guitars”contributes to the Artist Series OMC-LJ guitar's generous sustain. Impressive tone and understated elegance have exemplified previous Laurence Juber guitars, and the OMC-LJ Pro continues in that tradition.
The traditional OM body boasts a graceful, rounded cutaway, and scalloped 1/4" Adirondack spruce top braces combined with the 25.4" OM scale to assure impressive resonance and dynamic range. The OMC-LJ Pro guitar's back and sides are accented by a Style-28 wood-fiber rosette and a fine herringbone top inlay.
The Artist Series OMC-LJ guitar's D-TAR Wave-Length electronics combine a thin, piezo under-saddle transducer with an 18v, low-noise, high-input impedance preamp to create a system with twice the dynamic range of typical 9v systems. The preamp is powered by 2-AA batteries. With 18 volts, your signal has more headroom, so hard strumming won't distort as easily. The preamp has an input for a second source, like a magnetic pickup or a soundboard transducer.
Two adjustable trim pots, one low-frequency shelving and one high-frequency shelving, allow you to fine-tune and set and forget the bass and treble frequencies to optimize the Wave-Length for your guitar; enabling you to transparently amplify the natural timbre of the Martin OMC-LJ acoustic guitar with minimal coloration.
