This is the case I have for my Martin HD28. Nice case! Sturdy, well made. The accessories pocket inside is big enough to fit lots of goodies! Very plush interior. Latches are sturdy, have held up well, and the finish on them has not worn at all. Well worth the price to protect your guitar!

The Martin cases must have dropped in quality quite a bit, I bought a D35 in 1980 and it came with a blue case that was top notch. My son got a Martin D100 2 years ago and we bought a new 640 case because he travels a bit. 2 years later the handle latches are broken, there is a 2 inch hole at the top. I wish we would have gone for the generic padded case that was half the price.

Excellent case which comes with your purchase of a D-28 Martin. CFMartin & Co. is embossed on the outer shell.

Comments about Martin 640 Dreadnought Hardshell Case:

Bought this case to replace an old heavier wooden case. My 1969 D18 fits in snugly, the old case was actually a bit too large for the guitar. This case is light and easy to carry, all of the latches, hinges, etc. work with ease. I like the design of it and am glad that I bought it.
The online purchase from Guitar Center was easy. The case arrived when expected...happy customer here!

I have a dreadnought dxk2 and it fits perfectly in this case. This case is solid and I like the Martin logo on the front. I didn't see any reason to not give it five stars.

Plastic cases hold humidity better and with a Martin logo

Comments about Martin 640 Dreadnought Hardshell Case:

Guitar sleeps inside it and You can condition the case ready for humidifying by keeping it closed at all times and I notice the guitar takes most of the humidity and not the case like the wooden versions. It also has a cool effect with a CF Martin molded in.

Comments about Martin 640 Dreadnought Hardshell Case:

It could have been a better fit when closing and latching - but very reasonable price, and case seem tight and sturdy

Comments about Martin 640 Dreadnought Hardshell Case:

I wanted to offer a "workaround" to one of the negative comments I read before purchasing the case. The user had a problem with the plastic cracking in the vicinity of the center clasp. I will say that I have noticed the fit on the case is quite tight at this location, especially because I have added a peg for fastening my guitar strap to the base of the neck. I have found a simple solution - just fasten the two adjacent clasps first. This distributes any stress on the plastic case and makes it easy to fasten the center clasp without risking damage to the case. I am grateful to the reviewer who pointed out this potential problem so I could address it before it manifested itself on my case.

        Fail!

        By David Hawkes

        from Corona, CA

Comments about Martin 640 Dreadnought Hardshell Case:

This is also the case that came with my HD-28 about 3 years ago. Six months ago a crack developed in the gray plastic from where the latch attaches. The crack has grown, the aluminun frame has warped and the case no longer properly closes. I plan to relace it with the heavier, albeit more reliable 345 style. By the way, Martin said after 1 year, tough luck!
