Overview

The dreadnought-size 16 Series Martin DC-16GTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar boasts a Venetian cutaway with a satisfyingly deep body. The DC-16GTE guitar's shape means great player comfort and the extra depth contributes presence, projection, and power to the guitar's tone. Includes case.

The DC-16GTE guitar's solid Sitka spruce soundboard is polished to a high gloss while the genuine mahogany back and sides are finished to a soft satin luster. Martin appointments include a bold herringbone rosette, black Micarta fingerboard and bridge, black Boltaron top and back bindings, chrome-enclosed tuning machines and Style 28 bridge pins.

The Martin DC-16GTE comes with the Fishman Matrix Infinity onboard electronics system. The Fishman Matrix Infinity is an undersaddle acoustic guitar pickup and preamp system that delivers transparent and natural sound allowing your instrument's natural tone to be heard in amplified performances. This Fishman pickup system is noted for providing crystal clear string response, balance, and sensitivity. Ill start off by saying this guitar was a great buy, you simply cannot rely on a better name than the martins. The dc16 sounds amazing slightly bass thick but the mahogony makes those lows so warm, but if your worried about the highs or mids lacking forget about it this thing does it all and pleases the ear while doing so. The electronics in this guy are solid dont have to worry about all your electronics going ballistic in the middle of a show. Great product and martin always holds its quality to a high standard and martins resale value is reason enough to not worry about its generous tag.

Great Guitar.

By Jake

from Flower Mound, Texas

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is one of the nicest Martins made (in its price rang, and in the entire Martin field) It has a Wonderful to tone. The convenient cutaway makes it easy to play the hole rang of the neck. The Roland electronics are an excellent feature. The neck is extremely fast which is really nice. The craftsmanship is AMAZING. It was made so smoothly. This guitar is great to preform with. GREAT guitar.

easy to play

By choccobo

from oakland, ca

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I actually think this guitar is easier to play than my taylor 714. Its got great string action. I do have to re-tune when using a trigger capo, but its a minor issue and honestly should be tuning it anyways in that situation. Over all a great buy.

Excellent all around stage guitar

By Jim

from Colonia, NJ

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is one of Martin's best deals going. Slightly bass heavy as a Dreadnought should be, the cutaway provides access up the neck and the Roland electronics are excellent. The fit and finish are up to Martin's high standards and this is a really nice player. The Richlite fingerboard is very nice and the neck is a comfortable mod low oval making for a very fast neck.

Great Tone and Feel

By Jim O'Brien

from Chadds Ford, PA

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Personally, I don't see any reason to buy a more expensive guitar. My Martin includes the Mahogany back and sides which, I think, produces an appealing deep base, which I don't find in some of the competitive brands. Mids and highs are not lost and contrast beautifully with the base tones. The fretboard is comfortable and the overall quality is excellent. You won't be disappointed with this guitar unless you prefer a very bright sound, which might take you in another direction.

Great axe

By Dustin Lafferty

from Tacoma, Wa

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Great for live situations. I like it better than the higher end guitars I have owned because the cutaway and the electronics are very user friendly. This is a working musicians best friend. Live, the auto feedback and phase buttons are vital for a full, rich sound. Nice bear claw on the one I bought. Can't go wrong with this guitar.

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is truely the nicest guitar I have ever owned. I have always loved playing the Acoustic guitar and I have played them all from Fender to Takamine and this Martin is the best for the price by far. True American craftsmanship and the playability and sound is top shelf for the price. you will be hard pressed to find nicer Guitar.

Gret buy!

By David D. Stewart

from Austin, Texas

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I played most of the guitars at Guitar Center then went to the rest of the music stores in Austin. Ended up and back at Guitar Center where I not only got a great guitar but the best price also. If you are in search of new Martin this is the one. Plays great and has a great sound with on board affects to match. And of course you get the best price and service at Guitar Center

I have this guitar. It is truly the best sounding acoustic ever. The bass sound that comes out of this thing sounds much better than the perty ones costing twice as much.

maritn dc-16gte

By Michael Louis Parks

from corpus christi, texas

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

As soon as I picked up my first DC-16GTE I fell in love with it. I hesitated at first to buy it because of the micarta neck. Actually though after careful research I discovered it's not a bad thing as far as tonality goes. I bought it for live acts and for the studio. I had no problems at home but on my first trip out the strings buzzed when I got back. The furier or shop guy at guitar center said it was because of the change in humidity from home to the outdoor stage...maybe..I hope so..he fixed it with one turn of the truss bar which by the way is hiddin..non the less ..it defeats the purpose of it being a gig guitar if I have to have it adjusted after every outing. Still a hudge fan of Martins. This is my third Martin.

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I traded a $3500 Taylor for this guitar about 5 years ago. The sound gets even better with age. I rarely play it amplified that someone doesn't comment on the sound of this guitar. I've been offered trades that I've refused. I am a worship director in a church and between myself, or another worship leader, someone is playing this guitar on stage at least three times a week. Other guys ask to play mine even if they are partial to their own guitar, so it is used constantly. Could not recommend any higher!

Martin hits a home run with this one!

      By Dennis Labriola

      from Elizabethtown, Ky.

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Recently purchased this this guitar after being frustrated with an aftermarket pickup installation in another Martin that I use for rehearsals and gigs. The DC16 GTE is excellently made and obviously designed for gigging musicians as indicated by the Roland AP 1 features (on board reverb, modeling, tuner, 7 band EQ, and easy external battery access), satin finish on all but the Sitka top, and the overall ease of operation and playability of the instrument. The guitar sounds and feels great. One of the few times that I purchased a guitar without playing it as all but one of the reviews was positive. It would be hard to go wrong with this one.

        Really Sweet Guitar

        By John Pappas

        from San Diego, CA

Comments about Martin 16 Series DC-16GTE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I test drove every other Martin and Taylor I could find between $1500 and $2000- and this ended up being the best choice. I have gotten many compliments on its amplified sound: rich, balanced, clean, articulate. I wondered at first about the simple electronics set up: there is only a volume control and a tone control, but that's all you need to get the natural tone of the guitar to come through the speakers. Less is really more since I'm not spending time fiddling with a multiband eq trying to find a sound. The sound is already there. Just plug it in and enjoy it! there's also a "bass boost" switch that gives nice presence in the off position. If you're looking for a great guitar under $2k, go get yourself this one!
