Comments about Martin 15 Series OMC-15ME Orchestra Model Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After looking to upgrade my 000-RSGT to an acoustic/electric cutaway, and after evaluating a few different options, It came down between the 15 and the Performing Artist 4 series from Martin. Though after much deliberation and research, the throwback style 15 won out.

First thing I noticed upon opening the case was that it looks absolutely great. If you are someone who likes flashy, this is definitely not the guitar for you, but for me it is beautifully understated in it's presentation. The mahogany is beautiful, and the inlays on the fretboard are a really cool pattern. The neck profile on it is probably one of the most natural feeling acoustics to play up and down the neck I have experienced. Add that with the satin finish and you have one super comfortable guitar. Also, the vintage looking open back tuners a good looking and smooth.

The quality of the craftsmanship is perfect as far as finish/fit/fretwork, but I would expect absolutely nothing less of a guitar in this price range, and especially a Martin. The only thing that was slightly off for me personally when I got it was that the action was a bit high for my personal taste. Measuring it put it within the range that Martin gives as their factory specs, but on the high end of that. Though seeing as it is a personal preference thing I can't really knock it. 5 minutes for a quick saddle shave and a minor truss rod adjustment and it was just where I like it.

The one true con I have noticed, and this is with Martin in general, is that they do not include a hex key with the guitar when you buy it to adjust the truss rod. If you are like me and do your own basic maintenance/setups be aware of this as it requires an extra long 5mm hex key to reach/make the adjustment.

Bottom line: I would definitely recommend you at least check this guitar out

Comments about Martin 15 Series OMC-15ME Orchestra Model Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this as a dadgad play out guitar because you know, people are always wanting to try your guitar and I have a pretty rare 28 I am particular about. Sue me, it is the one thing I am picky about. So I get this and very quickly I realized it is the easiest playing guitar I have ever had ( had a lot, as above a bridge shave and truss adjustment). It has a sweet if "mellow" sound, great sustain, balanced, and just great fun to grab and play. I usually use a mic so I haven't really worked the new pu system. But I got it quite below MSRP. I honestly think if I had to pick one utilitarian guitar, yes the 28 and a couple,of others have the more high end appearance and properties but this one is great fun and when it comes down that is what it is all about.
