This guitar features an auditorium body style, which is smaller than the typical dreadnaught acoustic guitar. The top wood is solid mahogany as are the sides and the single piece back that has no inlay. This guitar does not have any binding on the body or fingerboard. The body finish is satin and after awhile will shine from body oils. The sounds this guitar produces are incredible. With the use of mahogany wood for the top, this instrument provides a very warm sound with plenty of sustain. The low notes produced are excellent especially on the low E string. The high notes are clean and ring. The overall tone can range from warm to rich to full and bright. This guitar is an excellent choice for fingerstyle players though strummed chords sound very warm with great sustain. This guitar is an incredible value and I would highly recommend the Martin 000-15 to anyone.

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

The one in West Va was so memorable that when I can across a used on in very good shape, I sprung for it. It just feels natural in that without the frills you can control it better and it fits like a glove. The sound is never going to be bad and tows the mark. The whole thing is really a masterpiece for this kind of money. Mine is a 1942.

    My Left Arm!!

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

I've had mine for about ten years and it has only gotten better with time. I have lots of guitars but always play this one. Amazing volume for a guitar this size and it is extremely comfortable. I will pass this one on to my son for sure. I call it my left arm because if I lost it, I would be crippled!!!!

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

Same great mahogany smell as my D-28 & sound rings true. Can't go wrong with Made in America instrument. What this lil guitar lacks in frills, it makes up in sound. Great for ladies like me who're not built strong enough to tame a Big Harley or bang all day on a Dreadnaught.Judy

    Martin ooo-15

    By John in Santa Cruz

    from Santa Cruz, CA

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

Not a whole lot in the way of features on this one, but who cares? The thing just plays and sounds wonderful. I replaced the stock 12's with 10's but noticed a slight loss in volume and tone so I will probably go back to Martin 12's soon enough. The satin finish really gives it a vintage look that makes you feel like you just bought a piece of history; I never thought I would like satin but now I do. And the case it comes with is top-notch. There was a bow in the neck that was easily adjusted, so that was no problem at all. This guitar makes me want to go down and sit next to the train tracks and strum away...

    Awesome Value

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

It is simple looking guitar, but the sound is rich and complex -- and much, much brighter than I expected from the mahagony top. In fact, it's almost brassy, but still with a full range. The action was also as good out of the box as any guitar I've ever played. I prefer the 000 size and tone over my current name-brand dreadnought which, come to think of it, will soon be offered on Craig's List.

    GREAT sounding guitar

    By John

    from Monrovia, CA

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

GREAT sounding guitar! I found this guitar on the web, and had my local Guitar Center order it for me. What attracted me was that it is is the lowest-priced 000 sized Martin that is all solid wood (no laminates), and I thought I'd give it a try. However, I was a little nervous about the soundboard being made of sapele ("African mahogany") rather than Spruce. While it was on order I couldn't stay away from the Guitar Center, and in the meantime I fell in love with the GC-MMV Dreadnought they had hanging there. I didn't really want a D-size but the MMV sure sounded nice. I figured if I didn't like the 000-15, I'd return it and get the MMV. Well, the 000-15 came in and I took it home a few days ago, and I love the sound of it. I can feel the low notes vibrating my belly, and the high notes ring clear. I had a nagging worry though, that the high notes weren't quite as responsive as those of the MMV, so today I took it in and compared it to the MMV and also to a D-16GT. Guess what? The 000-15 actually sounded better and more balanced, over the whole range, than either of the other 2 guitars! The sapele wood of the -15 is interesting. As a woodworker, I don't really consider this mohogany, as it doesn't LOOK like mohogany to me. Don't get me wrong, it looks FINE, but it doesn't have the visual "depth" that Cuban or Honduran mohogany has. The sapele has a nice aroma - I rather like the fact that the guitar smells faintly like my woodshop. Personally, it wouldn't have been my choice to use the same wood species for the neck, sides, back, AND the soundboard. Quite frankly, I think instruments look nicer when there's some contrast - light soundboard, reddish sides and back, ebony fretboard, etc. But, aside from everything being pretty much the same reddish brown shade, the guitar looks fine. In the end of course, what matters most is how it sounds, and as far as I'm concerned, this little guitar can hold its own!

    WOW!!!

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

I've been a Martin fan for quite some time, but when I first heard this guitar (a vintage one) played by the great John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers) I was captivated by the sound of this guitar. I spent some time getting to know the model (I spend a long time getting to know the model of guitar before a purchase), I was convinced that I had to have this guitar. I've now had it for about a year and a half, and it has proven to be the most wonderful canvas for music to be made that I have ever gotten to know. To anyone who has a natural attraction to Martin (still can't explain that) this is a wonderful choice. Also let it be known that it is far better for finger picking and classical style playing than for strumming and chords. For that a d-28 or 000-28 would probably be preferable, (also wonderful instruments). This is a wonderful instrument that screams to be played and loved. For that, it is a gem. Also, price-wise, it's pretty good considering that it is made from solid wood and in America, (nothing against the other countries-it's just more expensive to buy American made, which some people find to be important. For me, if it plays well enough, it doesn't matter). Happy Playing! I hope you have found this review helpful.

    Best American Value

    By Peter Hyatt

    from Maine, USA

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

Before I purchased my 000-15, I did quite a bit of research into the 15 series, and into mahagony. I learned something very important:Guitarists around the country who owned very expensive Martin guitars owned a 15. They all seem to swear by it.It is probably the single best value for the dollar offered in the country. I believe that Martin makes the finest guitars, and this is a Made in the USA all wood, no frills, soft, beautiful and endearing mahagony guitar. Its looks are timeless, pre WWII beauty. The sound is nothing short of addicting. I took the time to write to owners of it; targeting those who owned guitars that retailed for over $4,000. They all reported a real love and dedication to this guitar. They all spoke of its beauty, color, simplicity and of its sound. I have had mine for a few years now, and it is just starting to "open" up. The smell is wonderful. I have one and one of my sons has another (00-15) which are both in Mahagony. For the price, I do not know if there is a better guitar made anywhere, but this has the Made In America quality that comes from dedicated workers who believe in their product; not from forced labor, or cheap labor overseas. This is an American treasure.I now own several Martins, but I turn, almost daily, to my 15, as its sound has no equal, especially for that soft fingerpicking that I do for my family. I love it and hope to keep it until I pass on, and leave it to my son or daughter to play.

    All mahogany gloss

    By aspirating musician

Comments about Martin 000-15 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

I found a custom version of this guitar recently. It has a reddish stain, all mahogany with glossy back, sides and top. I was looking at used 15 series, but after playing this custom 000 15, I couldn't resist and bought it. The sound and playability are amazing. A little more that the standard 15, but I've got one that looks like no others.
