I first played a D35 several years ago and liked the action. I have since played a few in different stores over time. No two sound the same, and there is a video tour of the Martin factory on-line where the string man "the one who strings and test each Martin" makes the same statement that no two sound the same. All D35's I have played have had a very loud tone that doesn't stop just because you do!! If you have access to a Guitar Center store, I suggest you put your hands on one and take it for a test drive. Also I was able to get my for less than web posted pricing - Martin does has restrictions on what prices can be offered on line.

  • D-35 in Brazil

As reviewed by Guilherme Fonseca on 1/28/2008

I?m a professional guitar player in Brazil. I went to Houston and was searching for an acoustic guitar mainly for recording. I played A LOT of guitars and ended up with my incredible D-35. The instrument sings beautifully. You play a single chord and it fades out with colorfull harmonics. My D-35 is kicking a... here in Brazil, the land of fine woods!

  • Clear choice!!!

As reviewed by Guy Catalano on 5/31/2012

It was between the D-35 and D-28 from what I had been reading. So off to GC to try both. Although the D-28 had that great Martin sound, it was quite noticeably darker and less vibrant than the 35 (IMHO). Unlike the 28, The D-35 sound was almost 3-dimensional and clearly projected a rich and full-bodied sound in all ranges. Individual notes were punchier and well rounded, and the bass was much fuller. It didn't take long for me to settle on the 35 - hands down.
