Martin Standard Series D-28 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (514690)

Since its debut in 1931, the D-28 has remained the standard by which all large-bodied, steel-string guitars are measured.

The tone of the Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar is what separates it from all other guitars. It has a solid Sitka spruce top with glossy finish, special East Indian rosewood for the polished back and sides, and genuine ebony fingerboard and bridge. With its rich, resonant warmth and punchy volume, the D-28 is particularly well-suited to music styles requiring loud, powerful rhythm accompaniment. Includes Martin deluxe hardshell case and limited lifetime warranty.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Hello everyone. I never right reviews on any of the products i buy, but i just had to for this guitar. this is one of the best instruments i have ever played, and i have played a lot of em! The price tag is up there, but hey its a martin that goes approximatly 10% up in value per year so it is worth it. a lot of people like the HD-28 , but for me it was too dark and not boomy enough, but i guess it all depends on the style of music you play. if you want one of the cleanest, open, and warm sounds that you have ever heard out of a guitar, then definitly get the guitar. The only downside is that the ebony fingerboard isnt as black and great as the older models used to have, but should not be a determining factor. overall im still shocked at the sound of the guitar and ive had it for 3 weeks, and it'll keep only gettin better as the wood opens up. :} i would just recommend not buying online and rather go to a retail location as it is a handmade guitar and every guitar will sound different. i tried 3 D28's at guitar center hollywood until i picked which one i liked! hope this helped!

  • Martin D28 Sunburst

As reviewed by BOB REZNIK on 12/15/2011

I already have a Martin 00016RGTE, and I wanted to put some money into a classic Martin that would retain its value over the next 40 years and hand down to my kids, considering how old Martins sell for $30k+. I love my smaller Martin with the pickup, and it's been 10 years since I've played a dreadnaught. Ordered the Sunburst direct from Martin through Guitar Center and picked it up at the store. Checked it over in the store, took it home and WOW! I forgot how rich and deep the sound of a Martin dreadnaught can be. The D28 sunburst is not only a beautiful guitar, I've fallen in low with the traditional sound, AND how easy it is to play. So I have the best of both worlds, an electric acoustic that can be amplified, and a great non-electric that sounds great out on the patio without any boost.

  • As good as wine!!!

As reviewed by CRISTIANO SCHMITT on 10/10/2013

I bought my Martin D-28 a year and a half ago, at Manhattan GC. Everytime I open the case, which is wonderfull, I can feel the smell of wood coming from the guitar. I had to low the action a little bit, but still playing with the 12 gauge strings. They put some richness into this guitar voice. The lows are very good, the middles are smooth and well balanced and highs are very fine too. Not that kind of sparkling highs as Taylors have, which I find a little anoying with the time. I prefer the Martin?s voice. This guitar is a keeper. My granchildren will play and have fun with this Martin cause it seems to last forever! Very well built, flawless crafted. As the time went by, it became better, just like wine! When I bought it, I found it a little pricy, nowadays a think it was very cheap due to it?s superb quality.
