Solid tonewoods and a more comfortable playing width up the neck.

The Martin OMCPA4 Orchestra Acoustic-Electric Guitar is constructed with solid tonewoods. The back and sides are matched from African sapele, similar in appearance and tone to mahogany. Bookmatched Sitka spruce soundboards utilize Martin's Hybrid "A-Frame" scalloped bracing.

The OMCPA4 features a slim, more parallel taper at the 12th fret, allowing for a more comfortable playing width up the neck. The bridge spacing is also modified to 2 3/16" - splitting the difference between Martin's two traditional spacings.

Along with the look, feel, and enhanced performance of Martin's existing Performing Artist Series models, the OMCPA4 also has the new, simplified Fishman F1 Analog electronics system. Includes case.

  • Awesome!

A breathtaking sound. This guitar sounds better and better every day. I purchased this guitar about a month ago. I exchanged a custom Taylor that a purchased for this guitar. This Martin OMCPA4 sounds better than the Taylor, BY FAR!! Not that the Taylor didn't sound good, but this guitar just has so much more character, and is easier on the ears, especially when recording. Now I have to say Taylor does win in the aesthetics department. But when it comes down to it, Martin wins in sound! If you are seriously interested in buying a good acoustic guitar, listen to recordings of artist who play and record with Martin, and artist who play and record with Taylor, Gibson, etc... Then choose what sound you like better. I highly recommend this guitar. At a professional level, this is one of the best guitars I have ever owned with a great price tag.

I started learning guitar last year. My main purpose is to play chords while leading worship with hymns in church. Thank goodness that I made a quick progress! Initially I bought an entry level Yamaha and quickly moved on to a Taylor 114CE. In one occasion, Guitar Center offered an exchange program so I brought my Yamaha for exchange. I initially wanted to buy a Taylor 2- or 3-series since I had getting used to Taylor sound. But then this Martin at the similar price level caught my attention. I bought it just out of my curiosity for a different brand of guitar. I am so happy that I made a right choice! Taylor vs. Martin, in a short word, is the style between California vs. Pennsylvania. Taylor sounds crispier at higher tunes and more bass at lower tunes. But Martin blends a nicer balance together. I totally agree with another reviewer saying that Martin sounds better while playing chords, because it harmoniously blends them. Taylor sounds more like wild wild west, while Martin is an elegant classical northeastern. In my opinion, there is no better or worse here. It really all depends on your personal taste. But one thing that Martin is definitely superior than Taylor is its electric board. At this similar price range, Taylor sounds more electricity, while Martin generates more natural sound from the speakers. Give it a try. You will not disappointed. This is an entry-to-mid level guitar hard to beat.

  • Very happy

I was interested in a solid wood American made acoustic/electric. It came down to the 4 series Martin PA's or the Taylor 314CE. I found that the Taylor had a bit more treble, and the Martin more bass. I also found the Taylor to sound a bit better playing single notes, and the Martin a bit better with chords. This said, they were all really good more alike then different. I'm not sure if the Taylor was better, but even if it was it was not $400 better. Once I decided to go with the Martin, I picked the OM because it just felt more comfortable. I play sitting down and the slightly smaller size works for me. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. The guitar sounds great with or without an amp. It is easy to play and the only complaint I have is the tiny dots on the fretboard. Full size dots would look better in my opinion.
