Superior performance, longer life.

Rich tone should last as long as the inspiration does. Built on Martin's durable SP core wire, Martin SP Lifespan strings are the next level in studio and stage performance. Now with a more advanced proprietary treatment from America’s legendary guitar builder, SP Lifespan strings repel dirt, grit and other environmental elements that can quickly alter the sound of your strings. All six strings are treated to ensure a longer life. Martin developed a new and advanced method to treat strings, resulting in a process that ensures both the core and wrap are protected from corrosion. The molecular level treatment adds almost no mass to the string, will not flake or peel, and does not alter the vibration pattern like some string coatings can. The high-tensile strength SP core wire resists breakage and holds tunings longer – a perfect match to the treatment in creating a long life string. SP Lifespans are designed to last longer and sound better so you can play on.

  • Best strings for a warm feel

As reviewed by Gabriel Murray on 7/13/2011

WARNING: these strings are not the best for a bright tone! That's not why I buy them anyway, they work fine for that purpose, however there are better strings out there for that purpose. I don't know what that 1 star review is about guys, I think he got a bad batch of strings. Playability wise, as long as you have tough hands that can handle .013 guages, they are a breeze. I'm crazy about the tone! I play it with my Martin DRS1 and I feel refreshed everytime. They also grab everyones attention when I play them because they give off such a lush sound on my DRS1. Style of music is going to determine your experience with them. I play alternative, blues rythmic, and funk style strumming. (think john frusciante and hendrix)so the strings compliment the sound greatly. If you're interested in a more blues finger-picking or even just a brighter tone these are not the strings--as I said in the beginning. I've never had major tuning problems, just a lil off when u drop to D frequently but it comes back. I recommend the setup I have them in: Martin/Solid through and through/Dreadnought body/Darker woods such as the woods used for the d15m and drs1. They serve their purpose best when in that setup (in my opinion). Like I said I love the tone and you won't be dissapointed if you're buying them for the right reason, each set of strings serves a different purpose.

  • Best strings I have used

As reviewed by David Madden on 3/7/2011

I have played for a good while and used all sorts of strings. Before these I would use nothing but Elixers because of their lasting tone. I find the tone and feel of these strings to be much better than the Elixers. Also, I play very hard and have had some trouble with Elixers breaking on me...these never have. I have only changed them because they were old and worn out, never because one had broken. Definitely try these strings; they're all I will use now.

  • So far so good

As reviewed by David Gutierrez on 2/21/2013

I've been looking for a certain tone from my acoustic that past few months. I've tried D addrio EXP and I liked the sound but something was missing. I haven't tried the Helix nor the Elixir, even though people tell me to try them out. I will but not right now!! I put these strings on my Ibanez and it was a match!! I love the way they make my Emerald beauty plays!! I couldn't put it down for the first 3 hours!! The Low strings have the right ring that I'm looking for and the high strings have that brightness that I'm looking for in my playing!! i'll try other strings but I don't know when!!
