These are the strings that I use on both of my acoustic guitars one, a 26 year old Fender Newporter with solid sapele top and back, and the other a Washburn WD200SWM solid rosewood and sitka acoustic. The character of each guitar is pronounced beautifully by these strings, chords ring out beautifully with distinction between them and single notes pop with the unique character of each guitar. While these do sound rather tinny and clangy initially, and the break-in period takes longer the tone once broken in is phenomenal. The strings provide richness evident in two string harmonies, strummed and plucked chords, and harmonic notes. Sustain is unbelievable with the SP line and so too is longevity, these typically last more than a month even with daily play for me. I highly recommend any of the SP line of strings because of their honesty of tone, structural integrity, warmth, brightness, and sweetness. Martin SP's go above and beyond the call and are a terriffic value.

These strings sound very good, like all Martin strings, while breaking them in. Unfortunately, when compared to the regular phosphor bronze studio performance, i.e. the MSP4100, they become very muddy much more quickly; they last for about 2 days. I do play for several hours a day, so for other people these could work quite well, but honestly, they sound the same as the MSP4100's and those last longer. The only reason to buy these over the others is that they cost $2 cheaper, or if you have a vintage guitar and need to preserve the bridge
