Great sound from a Little Martin!

I am quite thrilled with my Little Martin Guitar LX1E. The sound is rich and bold, as I have come to expect from Martin. It is a great guitar to have out and not take up a bunch of space. I plan to use it as a back-up guitar when playing live. In fact, it sounds so good, that I recorded it the other night with great results. A couple features that rock: 1)It has a control panel with volume and tone. 2)The battery can be changed from the outside panel. 3)The gig bag is very nice. 4)It feels great to play...smooth and easy. 5)The action is impressive. 6)It is so darn CUTE!! I also recommend it to those who enjoy small bodied guitars...I've never played a guitar soooo comfortable. I have a very nice, much more expensive Martin that is in its case now because I dig this Little Martin so much.

Nice Compromise Between Travel and Tone

I own a Backpacker with pickup and have tried several travel guitars over the years. I don't buy acoustic guitars without electronics anymore just because of the versatility that electronics can provide, even if it is just for tuning. Acoustically the LX1E guitar is pretty good. The medium gauge strings and shortened scale are only objectionable if you play a full size light strung acoustic prior to picking this guitar up. Otherwise the tone is pure though somewhat sterile. I think the solid top helps this guitar quite a bit, so consider upgrading if you can afford it. The electronics panel is near the end pin which is fine but the volume and tone controls are not intuitively placed and I think the direction of increase should be reversed. It's good enough that I'm considering selling the Backpacker and my beater acoustic guitar for campfire and fun.
