A NOVICE WILL SOUND LIKE A PRO

The Martin dxk2 koa blew my mind and almost had me in tears when I heard my own songs come alive thru the sound hole. On top of that, I tried to compare it with the $3000 guitars just to go back to the $499 koa and cry some more. Still not convinced that this martin can compete with the bigger boys (price wise), I asked a pro picker to do his thing and on the three same songs he played-he never noticed that he played on a lesser valued martin in comparison to the bigger boys. When I told him, he laught and agreed with me that this was one warm base and fun to play guitar. This guitar impressed me so much that I will trade in my beloved acoustic/electric guitar and amps, that have been with me forever, just to get my hands on this one. Guys, you don't need an electric/acoustic---YOU NEED THIS MARTIN KOA THAT LOOKS AND TASTE LIKE A GOOD OLD MUG OF JOE BY THE FIREPLACE BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOWWWWWWWW.

Beautifull Sound, Yet Durable

A warm, deep sound, with the quality you'ld expect from Martin. A very smart buy, As soon as I picked it up, I loved the deep bass and mid-range sounds it produces. A very nice flat-picker, not very efficent sound for leads, but lots of deep rich tone. You won't find any of that "tinty" or "Metallic" souding "twang" with this guitar.(if you want that, go find a Seagull or a Taylor. Also a very comfortable neck. The HPL body is indeed very durable. A Beautifull sounding guitar for all occasions, from Vacation to Studio, and all around quality instrument from CFMartin&Co. Price and Durability meet all expectations. Only.. Couldn't they have put a cutaway and some electronics in there?

Beautiful strong and personal

I love this guitar, the price in the frosting, and I love playing it. I didn't know about the top being other than wood, but don't care it's personal. And I would advise in favor of this sweet little harmonial piece of work by Martin, I do however have more desire to own at least one more Martin Acoustic. They are the best in my opinion.

500 bucks for a 1500 sound!

Ive gotta admit that Ive always wanted a Martin but was afraid of my kids getting into it and scratching the heck out of it, not so with the HPL! The HPL has a wonderful Martin sound, true deep bass tones and yet the bright highs. Awesome for flatpicking or fingerpicking. I just cant put this baby down! My ears didnt believe my eyes, the sound for the price.
