Martin DX1

I bought this for my daughter's birthday and a DM for myself at the same time. I can't decide which to give her because they both sound so beautiful...just different. The DX1 is deeper, warmer and louder. The action and necks are identical, they both play as sweet as can be and this guitar cost 200 bucks less! I consider this Martin's answer to the Ovation because of the composite neck and body but the Martin just sounds so much better.

Sturdy Guitar

This Guitar really proved its worth when I allowed my friends to play it. At first I would cringe when they bumped it on chairs and walls and everything else imaginable but after awhile I grew accustomed to this guitar being banged around. The point is that this guitar has been beat up yet still looks as good as it did on the day I bought it. Also worthy of being mentioned is that it sounds just like a Martin. So if you want a less expensive option that you don?t have to keep in an airtight case and worry about every time it takes a ding yet still sounds as good as Martin?s priced much more expensive, than this is your guitar.

Not too old to learn new tricks.

After a 32 year break from playing, I went shopping for an Ovation to treat myself in my old age. All I really knew is that I did NOT want some boxy dreadnought. But after having another willing and helpful shopper play about 25 different guitars of every brand and price imaginable (he played the same classic piece, which made it easy to compare them), I hated to admit it, the boxy looking DX1 Dreadnought blew away everything else under $1000 (one $999.00 Taylor came close). As midnight approaches, my fingertips are sore, and my cheeks hurt from grinning.'Smoke On The Water' and 'The Beverly Hillbillies' never sounded so good on the old Epiphone. I don't think I sounded this good back in the 70's.

Great Guitar at a Great Price

I love this guitar. It has a rich sound that fills the room like no other. It is easy to play and is one of the most beautiful instruments I have ever seen. I cherish this guitar more than any other material object I have ever owned, regardless of the price. It is very affordable, even for a student like me. I would recommend (and have recommended) this guitar to anyone who plays.

My guitar teacher loves it!

I went with my husband to buy him a guitar, saw the most beautiful Martin on display. Took it down, started to play it just for fun and could not put it down! My husband never did buy a guitar, but I did. Even my guitar instructor loves to play it. I love everything about this guitar: how it sounds, how it feels and even the warmnth of the wood. Best of all--I LOVE playing it!
