Bluegrass...Jam or Stage
I've been playing this guitar for 3 and a half years now, and have fallen madly in love with it. W/ medium strings, this guitar is mad crazy loud and a has a beautiful crisp sound perfect for bluegrass. The bass is very punchy, and the treble clear. You will be able to be heard in just about any jam with this guitar. W/ light strings, the tone rivals guitars that are much more expensive. But note: it's sound is very crisp, not as mellow as Martin's more expensive lines. It owes that to it's mahogony construction. IMO, that's perfect for lead playing. If you are looking for your first bluegrass guitar, or simply need a loud beater you can take to festivals without worrying about your 3500 guitar getting jacked, I highly recommend this axe. I play it in my bedroom, at jams, and on stage and I will say that for the money it can't be beat. I have also played the Blueridge guitars and lower-end Taylors, which are in the same price range. They don't stand up to a DM.

Martin MD
The first thing I noticed when I played this guitar was the sound the projected from the Dreadnought body. If you are looking for a guitar that is going to play along with other people, this is not the one. Because of the awesome projection this guitar will blow any other guitar away. The overall tone is top notch, up there with the best I have ever heard and is projected beautifully.
The Martin DM provides a simple, yet attractive appearance with its Satin finish and inlay work. If you are looking for a guitar with that ?Martin quality tone? and simple, yet beautiful appearance- the DM is for you.

The best for the cash
I own one and the same DM since 1999 and it never has let me down. I feel that it has improved in sound over the years and got easier to play. With the addition of a good quality pick up system it is a great stage guitar as well as for home sessions. With medium strings, it sounds the best !

Bluegrass Brian
I have played this guitar into the ground and it has yet to let me down. I play Bluegrass music and this guitar is a great rythem player.
I use this guitar on stage and around the house. I was a little disapointed with the bass response but the mids and treble make up for that.
I would buy this guitar again and put it in with the best of them.

It looks beautiful, plays beautifully, and it will last me for years to come. what can u expect from a Martin. My father, the one who bought me the guitar, adores it, every time he picks it up he says "it just sings". and it does, great guitar.
