  • My favorite guitar!

As reviewed by KJP on 3/4/2008

I purchased this guitar 9 months ago. I own two others and never play them. This one gets all my attention. I adjusted the action; but that's a personal choice. I had to adjust the truss rod because the neck bowed a bit this winter; but that is expected too. This guitar has a nice warm tone, it keeps its tune very well, it plays easily, and gets a lot of looks too! I tried out a number of other guitars in this one's price range and always came back to the Martin. You won't regret the purchase.

  • Ahh...Martin

As reviewed by brlrs on 10/3/2006

When you buy a Martin you are buying a tone. The famous Martin tone used to be out of reach to those of us who couldnt sacrifce a whole month's paycheck for an instrument. For this reason, it is hard to anticipate what a $700 Martin will bring to the table, so to speak. Rest assured, that with the DXCX 1E, your money buys you every bit of the tone that you could expect. Clear highs, deep and resonant lows, and everything in between are what $700 will buy. This is an excellent instrument for those who want to get started on the local music scene, but dont have a small fortune set aside. The HPL sides, which are not solid tone wood, but instead compressed wood fibers, tend to throw some people off from buyin this particular guitar. In fact, HPL saves a lot of money and does not take away from this fine instrument's tone at all. This guitar is not as loud un-amplified as it could be, but the Fishman electronics more that make up for that if you are willing to go electric-acoustic.I really like this Martin and when you play it, you can simply feel that it is a quality intrument that is going to last and grow with you as a musician.

  • Plug her in and watch everyone drool

As reviewed by Glen on 2/23/2011

Few guitars tell you they are special when you first touch them. This is one of those few. Solid sound unplugged and oh so sweet when you plug her in. Nice electronics with an on-board tuner make this one sweet work of art. Thank you Martin for making a guitar the working musician can afford.
