The DCPA4 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar features a cutaway and is constructed with solid tonewoods. The back and sides are matched from African sapele, similar in appearance and tone to mahogany. Bookmatched Sitka spruce soundboard utilizes Martin's Hybrid "A-Frame" scalloped bracing.
The DCPA4 features a slim, more parallel taper at the 12th fret, allowing for a more comfortable playing width up the neck. The bridge spacing is also modified to 2-3/16" – splitting the difference between Martin's 2 traditional spacings.
Along with the look, feel, and enhanced performance of Martin's existing Performing Artist Series models, the DCPA4 also features the new, simplified Fishman F1 Analog electronics system.

If your looking for a real workhorse acoustic guitar look no farther. The NEW Martin DCPA4 Deadnought has it all over anything out there in the $1200 price range. I tried out 9 guitars before settling on this one. Taylor 314CE, Breedloves,Tak's Guilds, Baden,Other Martins even Larrivee's. All great guitar but the DCPA4 with it's Deep Martin Tone and Brilliant Treble plugged in or not won me over. The action can be set extremely low and handles extra light string very well for you Electric Guitar Player out there. The Aura F1 Analog Pickup is second to none. Perfect for live performances. Very simple, two very useable controls knob. One for volume/engaging tuner by holding down the volume button. The other is a Mid/Bass Shift/Tone/Notch Filter engaded again by pushing down the tone button and a highly visiable Tuner window. Martin quality all the way except for the fretboard. They use what they call Black Richlight (Composite). Don't get hung up on it though, remember the notes change on the frets not the board itself. I struggled with that a first too but then again I play a Maple Neck Strat so I got over it quick. This guitar will inspire you to play more and more and get's better each day. All wood NO Laminate sides or back. Martin really got this one right for the money.
I picked up this guitar last week from my local Guitar Center and let me tell you that it really rocks. I chose it after trying several Martins, Taylors, Breedloves, and Gibsons. In this price range there is just nothing out there to beat it. The tone of the guitar is full and like no other (I found the Taylors and Breedloves to be too bright for my ear). Of the Martins I tried this one carried the fullest range of sound. I compared it to a Gibson J-45 and was sold on the Martin. This is really one great guitar!
i went into GC about a year ago searching for an all solid guitar. i did my research both hands on and online and this was the one that sits at home with me. the feel is great especially since its satin so no sliding around when wet like some other necks.its gives alot of volume before even sounding fuzzy. i did switch out the strings to martin mediums since im a heavy rhythm player and this baby has more attitude than my 530 tak. electronics are good, clicking on the left button (facing the player) basically kills all if any feedback when plugged in, and the idea of having the ability to adjust the pre-amp sound from strumming to fingerpick to solo is helpful and you can actually hear the difference, the knob is not there for show. tuner is spot on aswell. ive waited about a year so i could really know how it plays. i play in my church 3-4 times a week and it has presence and cuts through the bass piano and the electic smoothly. overall this guitar is versitle both un/plugged and can get mean when it has to.deff top in its range and gives higher-ends a run for the mula.
