• Not just better looking - amazing sound too

  I intended to buy a D-28/35 or HD-28/35. After trying these 4 models, I eliminated the D-28 since the HD-28 and D-35 sounded much better. The HD-35 really boomed but seemed too much for fingerpicking. I really did not want a D-4x model since I thought the headplate, gold tuners and abalone were the only upgrades and the guitar was only a decorated HD-28. Once I strummed the D-40 (now discontinued but same as D-41 without the outer inlay on the front), I could not believe the difference. It was much clearer and every string seemed to ring. The 28s and 35s seemed muddy in comparison. It also was well balanced and suited to both strumming and picking. I bought it on the spot. I am still in love with the sound (and it doesn't look bad either).

• Gorgeous and Great Tone!

  Fresh out of the box- a gem -the aroma of the finish with some fresh saw dust from Nazareth PA. Punchy, bright, deep tone with a warm sustain. Simply great craftsmanship. Superb action - as easy to play as a Les Paul. I love my new D41!

• A sound cannon!

  I went into the store intending to buy a Martin HD-28. I never buy a guitar without playing everything in the store though, and the Martin D-41 was the best sounding guitar in the room. It has the great Martin bass, but it also has crystal clear high notes. I generally prefer a plainer looking guitar like the HD-28, but the sound of this D-41 was so much cleaner and clearer than the HD-28, that it was the obvious choice. I used to own a 1969 Brazillian Rosewood D-28, and this D-41 compares very favorably. I'm getting a little arthritis in my hands, and the low profile neck is a lot easier for me to work with. I played at an open mic night the day after I bought the D-41, and I got a much better audience response than ever before. This guitar just inspires you to be a better musician. The staff in the Charlotte store are great guys who let me alone so I could concentrate on comparing the sound, but were available when I had questions.
