• Amazing, Crisp Sound and Powerful Sustain

  This guitar is everything I have ever wanted in an acoustic dreadnought. The sound clarity is absolutely superb and the notes seem to sustain for as long as you want to fret them. From smooth fingering to bluegrass flatpicking, any sound coming from this guitar is crisp and sweet. It has enough volume to compete with the banjo's and without missing a beat, can play the sweetest melody your fingers can compose. I've owned this instrument for over six months and I have to say it will be my new standby guitar, I play it every day, sometimes for hours at a time and every time I pick it up it seems to project a warmness that it didn't have before. It has aged extremely well in the last six months and I cannot wait to hear the sounds it can make in the years to come. I would recommend it to anyone with the budget, and for anyone who doesn't have the budget it's well worth saving for. I purchased a Fishman Rare Earth pickup with the guitar and the combination is well suited for home recording, though for gigging I am considering a more versatile pickup.

  Just picked up this Martin D-18GE yesterday from the San Francisco G.C. If your looking for a high end acoustic that has volume and plays very well, you've found it. I own Martins, Taylor, and Gibsons. This guitar easily competes with my old Martin D-28 and any of the other acoustics I have. In my opinion it has a much more balanced tone with volume, and although I first thought the neck(1 3/4") would be a bit wide for my not large hands, I actually found my self hitting the notes more clearly in runs or chords. I found that the V-Neck actually helps to give you a little more leverage when chording. Up to the 10th fret bar chords just sang out clearly. The Adirondack top and the forward shifted bracing really contributes to this guitars sound. I compared it with the HD-28's that were in the store at the time because I really wanted the HD28-V but I just kept going back to this guitar. I was knocked over every time I played it and because I did not have a Mahogany bodied guitar, this was a nice addition. Whether your fingerpicking, strumming, playing various styles, from blues to bluegrass this guitar is one you have to check out. Don't pass this one by or you might be sorry! This will probably be my go to guitar and I am very glad I bought it. Worth every penny easily!

• Best guitar on the market

  I paid $2300 for my D-18 GE. Best guitar that I have ever bought. There are a few things that need to be done to "out of the box" Martins: Adjust the nut, trussrod, and saddle and nothing can compare to it. Martins are typically pretty stiff to play if they are not set up.
