Vintage looks; modest price!

The Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar has mahogany construction and simple appointments. The D-15 is reminiscent of the 15 Series guitars of the 1940s and marks the reintroduction of mahogany-top guitars to Martin's line. Body and neck constructed from genuine mahogany with a rosewood fretboard. The mahogany body and top is much lighter in weight than rosewood, koa, or maple and yields a surprisingly strong, warm sound with an emphasis on clear, bright, airy trebles.

Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • Genuine mahogany body and neck
  • Tortoise-color pickguard
  • A-frame X-bracing
  • Rosewood fingerboard and bridge
  • Neck width at nut 1-11/16"
  • 25-2/5" scale length
  • 20 frets

Martin D-15 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Includes:

    Martin hardshell case

Unparalled warmth and richness

As a working musician, I have played and owned other guitars (including a vintage Ovation Sunburst) but I consider this D-15 my first choice every time. The warmth and fullness of this instrument is commented on by musicians and patrons alike. It is a dramatic change from the standard bright sounds associated with acoustic guitars - in all arenas (indoor/outdoor or studio)I recieve compliments on the richness of sound produced. On a down note - the stain is spattered on the face and back but not immediately noticed (numerous guitars were examined at multiple shops). Also, she tends to invite stress fractures; Martin disagreed that the satin finish provided a weaker shell for the mahogany wood. Still, I consistantly reach for the D-15 first, prefering the honey-like smoothness of the sound over the traditional brightness of mainstream acoustic guitars.

Great Martin for Low Price

The Martin D15 is an awesome guitar for the price. I find it's simplicity the best part. No other guitar out there looks the same as the all mahogany body of the d15. The finish is absolutely unbelievable and the d15 projects a sound that is mellow and warm. Its not flossy or ornate, its simple which makes it perfect for someone looking for their first serious acoustic guitar. The price is low compared to every other guitar of the same quality and even many guitars of lower quality. I would definately recommend this guitar to anybody who wants to buy their first quality guitar, or to somebody who is buying their fifth guitar and they want great quality, this guitar is a bargain.

There's nothing like a Martin

I love Martin Guitars, and I love my Martin d-15. Nothing can match the full tone of a Satin finish Mahogany-top guitar. Tremendous bass makes it a wonderful finger-picking guitar, but stum the guitar and the high end rings out like any 3,000$ guitar you'll find. This is a great guitar at a great price, put a fisherman pickup in it and you've got yourself a thing of beauty.

Awesome LITTLE Guitar

I have a D15 and there is simply not a better sounding instrument on the market. The only issue that I have is that is not quite loud enough. I have recently started playing rhythm guitar in a Bluegrass Band. When I start to "lean on it", it start buzzing. That however, just gives me a reason to get an HD28V. Excellent value for what you get.

Martin D-15 Mahogany guitar

I love my Martin D-15 Mahogany "Fudgesicle". It looks cool but plays warm mellow tones when fingerpicked. It is a bit muted when flatpicking. The only problem I have is that the neck is a little to narrow for my hands and I muff the high E sometimes. In this respect it is different from other guitars I have played. I really would recommend it to anyone who wants a solid no frills guitar. Its simplicity is its beauty - like a beautiful woman without any makeup - a natural beauty.
