A phenomenal price for a solid-rosewood 15-Series guitar!

The Martin Custom D Acoustic Guitar comes with simple appointments and a modest price that make it reminiscent of the 15 Series Martin guitars of the 1940s. The Custom D guitar eschews vintage all-mahogany construction for a select solid Sitka spruce top with lighter bracing for big projection. The guitar's solid East Indian rosewood back and sides produce ringing punch and sustain. The modified low-oval mahogany neck is set with a mortise-and-tenon neck joint and has an adjustable truss rod and solid Indian rosewood fingerboard. The body and neck are bound in tortoise-colored binding. The Custom D guitar also has a rosewood bridge, dot fretboard inlays, rosewood headstock overlay, and an inlaid single-ring rosette. Quantities of this custom Martin acoustic guitar are limited.

Amazing Guitar For It's Price.

This is one of the best guitars I have ever owned. You wont find an acoustic of this quality for this price. The only problem I had with it was it not having a finish. I play for hours at a time and the lack finish combined with the length of time I play, makes the top section (that my arm rests on) look off kilter because a large portion of it has a dull shine.

Way more than you expect...

I own Martin D-18 acoustic, but I was surprised to find the D-15 Custom Spruce-Rosewood guitar. However I was familiar with the mahogany version of the D-15 series, when I found and played the rosewood one, I had to have it. It is satin finished model with a very good factory string set up, and with medium gauge Martin bronze strings. Somebody may think that it is not an impressive guitar to look at, and it could be mistaken for a lower priced laminate Martin guitar, but I see the beauty in its design simplicity and when you strum it, the sound is way more than you ever expected. For a Martin at this price range and for what it offers, I rate it with highest numbers. Beautiful sonorous well balanced sound. I followed the advice of my friend and polished the sides and back of the guitar to a high gloss finish. As much as I love my D-18, this Martin D-15 Custom Spruce-Rosewood guitar is an outstanding instrument.

Martin D-15 Custom Acoustic

I stopped by one of the showrooms and really wasn't thinking about a purchase, but the store had just opened and I was in the acoustic area alone just trying out a few guitars. I fell in love with the feel and the sound of the Martins. I like the light weight and rich sound. I play daily only for pleasure. Some day I may choose to upgrade and I assure you I will stay with Martin and Guitar Center. I had purchased a Gibson Les Paul about 2 months earlier from Guitar Center and that is the reason I came back.

A nice Martin with fine woods

I like the rosewood and feel of the guitar. I really like the Martin tone. The ring of the strings is inspiring. I played at the hospital the other day and it held the people's attention for 1 hour and 15 minutes. The fact that it stays tuned all day long is a big plus. The thing I don't like is mine was very difficult to chord and it's not the best for picking. I got a bone nut and saddle put on it and set up. It's action is still less than what I want, but I guess my next move is to put lighter gauge strings on the guitar. I think these must be mediums. It's ok now, but I really think the ligher strings will do the trick. I believe they call for lighter strings on this guitar anyway. My best advise is try this guitar out if you get a chance. It may be a keeper. I do plan on keeping this one.

Absolutely amazing.

I bought mine from GC in March '07 and have played it nearly every day since. This is an amazing value but beyond that it is a fantastic sounding guitar. It's not very fancy but it is as good sounding and plays as easily as the high end models. It was cool to watch my friends reaction the first time they heard me play it. I lowered the strings a bit and the action is just like I want it. Harmonics are incredible, sustains the notes for a long time and projects so well indoors or out. Highly recommended. For the price I'm getting the Mahogany model as well.
