Most affordable spruce-top solid wood Martin ever, and only available here!

This Martin Custom D Classic Acoustic Guitar is the real deal and a real steal. Crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides. The mahogany Custom D guitar also has a tortoise binding, modified low-oval mahogany neck with a mortise-and-tenon joint and adjustable truss rod. Solid Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and inlaid single-ring rosette complete this Martin guitar. The mahogany body on the Custom D guitar is much lighter in weight than rosewood, koa, or maple and yields a surprisingly strong, loud sound with an emphasis on clear, bright, airy trebles. Quantities of this custom Martin acoustic guitar are limited.

The nicest present I ever bought myself!

After playing a Harmony Sovereign (full-size western flat-top) since buying it new in 1967 nearly daily, this Martin D15 Custom (with mahogany sides and back) is a tremendous pleasure - a self indulgence oft considered and finally given in to by this nearly 60 year old "musiker", folk and blues playing Clinical Social Worker. The action is smooth and easy - certainly compared to the Harmony - and to the other Martin I own, a Backpacker-S. The deep resonance, bell-like clarity of the sound - rich and lingering whether played loudly or softly (I am a flat-picker) makes this guitar one of the finest values I have ever come across and, truthfully, one of the nicest and best things I have ever done for myself. Out of the box, it looks and smells beautiful! I found the action and strings to my liking, though I have invested in some lighter gauge strings to experiment with later on. The only additional cost was having a Martin Authorized Warrantee technician install a second strap button at the base of the neck - while Martin Customer Service (a delight for those who have never before experienced truly quick and professional responsiveness) answered my questions about it with photos and very specific installation instructions, the rep DID caution me that having the work done by a non-authorized source "might" compromise the warrantee - which, as you may know, is for a 'lifetime.' The $15. for the professional install was no big deal and necessary as I play standing up much of the time. The guitar is deceptively simple in appearance - but quite beautiful in it's simplicity. NO flash - just a really good guitar. It even makes me sound like a far better guitarist than I really am! The trebles are true and the bass, though not promoted as one of this instrument's strong suits, is more than adequate for either jamming, performing or quiet reflective playing. If you're considering investing in a really good guitar at an outstanding price.

Unbelievable Value

I played every Martin, Ovation, Laravee, Epiphone, and Taylor in the 650-1200 dollar price range. This was the clear winner. This being a limited edition it has the Sitka Spruce top that the normal D-15 does not have. Only enhances the sound. Absolutely sounds and plays fantastic. The workmanship on this guitar is flawless. It is so easy to play also. You will not find a better acoustic under 1000 dollars. A must try.

D-15 Custom Spruce owner

I bought this model from GC in Clear Lake this past spring and have used it on stage with outstanding results since. I am continually amazed at the feel, action and tone of the guitar at such a price. My friends and bandmates play more expensive guitars that don't have the playability or tunability much less the sound of this instrument. Score one for Martin!

What a Wonderful Gift

My son Jesse bought the Martin D-15 Custom for me. It is made of solid mahogany sides and back and a solid spruce top. To look at it it is handsomely plain but when you pick it up and play it there is nothing plain about it. The playability and tone are the best I have ever had the pleasure to experience in a guitar. It resonates pure distint tones from base to tenor that blend together with a beautiful fullness. I use to play an Alverez Yari classical guitar and now I only play my Martin. I paired it up with the Marquis Chestnut guitar strap. I find it hard to put it away in my Martin guitar case. I wish I could play it all day long. My Martin D-15 trio is by far the most wonderful gift I have ever had the honor of receiving. Thank you Jesse and the Martin Guitar Company.
