As a confirmed Ovation fan I was curious to try one of these guitars. I purchased the X to use around the house for practice. It is a pretty guitar in a gritty urban guise. The sound box is slim. The tone of the guitar is all Martin but with a twist due to the aluminum sound board. It is not a hard metallic sound but clean with just a hint of jangle on open chords. The sound is simply amazing. Be sure to call for the best pricing.
I have owned many brands of guitar over my 25 year history of playing. Gibson, Fender, Takamine, Ibanez, Taylor. All have been replaced by this shiny little guitar. With the look, style, and sound for the big stage or just rocking around the house, you cannot beat it.
This guitar has a different feel -- and terrific Martin Sound. It has a narrow neck, slim body, and light weight. It is very comfortable to play, and it is my favorite guitar to play. I have a Guild Bluegrass Jubilee, a Takamine 340c, an ovation ultra deluxe shallow bowl, and the Martin has replaced them all.
