The distinctive looking Martin 000CXE black acoustic-electric guitar is constructed with a combination of highly compressed wood fibers (high-pressure laminate, HPL) and traditional tonewoods, the acoustic-electric 000CXE guitar has the famous Martin sound and playability found in their more expensive guitars.     Bought this guitar today, got everything I had hoped for & more. Nice matte finish. Rich, full sound from a slim-body guitar. Excellent action, very easy doing barred chords. The bass blew me away esp on the +12dB range. Great plugged & unplugged. I would recommend this guitar to everyone. I've tried & tested a lot of acoustic-electrics & this one is comparable to guitars 3x it's price. As always, can't go wrong with a Martin.

  • Great guitar for non solid wood insturment

    I've had this guitar for a couple of months. I've played many acoustic/electrics but wanted something that looked different than everybody elses. I've been a Martin player for many years and that is the sound I love. Even thought this is a HPL guitar it still has the Martin sound allthough not quite as loud. I bought it for my stage guitar and run in through a L.R. Baggs D.I. Great sound. Action is very comfortable and it looks great. Lot's of compliments. I did a few upgrades though; one is that I went to an extra light gauge of strings as I'm playing a lot of backing leads and the strings that came on it were wearing me out. The reason they came with this gauge is to give it a little more tone to make up for the lack of the solid wood tone. Just my opinion. Also put a black pick guard on it and changed out the end pins with black ones with Aboloni dots. My main Martin is a "Custom D" which is out of this world toneful. My partner plays a 40 year old D-28 and the Custom sounds much better. He just got a new HD-28 and the Custom is so close. Both the "OOOCXE" and the "Custom D" are both great buys for the money if you want the "Martin" sound. As with any purchase play several to see which one sounds the best. We play cowboy music and do cowboy poetry. I also use the CXE in our cowboy church band doing quite a few different styles.

  • Wanted to hate it

    Look, I like wood. The smell, the look, everything. But when I tried this guitar I had a smirk on my face and my thought was - yeah right. I expected a cheap ovation sound but what I got was a nice bassy tone from a smallish body. I compared it to other Martin's and Taylor's three times the price and found somethings I liked better about the 000CXEBLACK. Who knew? For my style and for a traveling guitar it can't be beat.
