Designed with and approved by the man himself, the 5-watt SL5 combo is a more accessible way to Slashs tone, and has been devised primarily for studio or home use.

It has two channels, switchable between clean and overdrive. The clean channel takes you from Slash clean to raunchy crunch, and the overdrive channel nails that Slash-style dirty tone.

Switching down to 1W means that you can have all that great Slash tone at a volume that wont wake the neighbors.

At the heart of the SL5 are three ECC83 preamp valves and a single EL34 in the power stage, with custom digital reverb.

The speaker is one of Slashs favorites, a 12 Celestion Vintage 30.

Very nice amplifier

from Saco, ME

I recently received my SL5 from guitar center online. It arrived quickly and perfectly packaged. My first impression is that this amp is big! The pictures online make it look much smaller than it really is. My wife asked me if I was planning to join a band or something (I am a hobbyist of about 30 years). I played through it using my LP Classic Plus which has high out put ceramic pickups. I haven't played it with a set of low output pickups yet but I am sure it will sound awesome. The controls are pretty straight forward with no surprises. The two channels, clean and overdrive, are switchable via the included foot pedal. The foot pedal also controls reverb. The clean channel sounds really great. I was surprised and pleased that there is so much versatility in this amp rather than "just AFD tone." The dirty channel sounds great and I believe no pedals are needed to dial in anything from AC/DC to, yes, Guns N Roses. You can get close to pretty much any classic rock sound. The switchable 1 to 5 watts is great too. The 12 inch speaker (Celestion Vintage 30 I believe) is perfect. I believe a big part of the tone comes from the huge cabinet and 12 inch speaker. It has a very full sound to it. Highly recommend. I only gave 4 stars because I think for this price it should have an effects loop in the off chance you want to add delay or chorus or something along those lines.

Finally Found My Perfect Amp

By Glenn

from Milwaukee, WI

I'll begin by saying that I don't normally write reviews but I find them helpful so I wanted to return the favor. Also, I don't know or understand many of the cool descriptive terms used in reviews so you won't find any of that here. The SL5 is a great amp. I did tons of research and played lots of amps, purchased some, and returned them. Then, one day I saw this amp was in stock and bought it immediately. I am in love. First impression: It came double boxed. You know they care about their product when they put it inside of two boxes. The amp is very well made. It is large, solid, and the finish is great. All the controls feel great. The clean channel sounds great but it is definitely a clean channel. I have to really crank it to get it to breakup. The Overdrive channel gets me all the classic rock tones I am looking for. The volume and gain controls work well to get everything from some breakup to lots of gain. I play in my basement with a wife and three kids in the house. 5 watts is plenty loud if I want it. The 1 watt setting sounds great with only a very slight change in tone. This amp sounds great at very low volume. For your reference: I play mostly classic rock; Zeppelin, AC/DC, etc. My guitar is a 1980 Gibson 335-S. I'm not gigging or anything cool like that. Hope this helps. If you buy this amp for its intended purposes, you won't regret it.
