I got this little amp a couple of days ago and I am amazed by the quality that Marshall put into this thing. This is my first Marshall and it has left a good impression. The ability to walk around the house, park, or city square and noodle on my guitar is priceless. Although it is a little pricey for an amp that is smaller than my hand, it is worth it because of the quality. The sound is so clear. The distortion (or Over Drive to be technical) has a very AC/DCish sound to it. In fact the first riff you would probably want to play in OD mode is the one from Back In Black. Overall, great product. What else would you expect from a Marshall?

This unit is quite small, approx 5"x5". Its almost toy-like. The tone isn't bad, but there's not much of it, as you would expect with a little battery powered unit like this. You can get a real amp (cheap, small) for $50-100 so if you want a real amp, look elsewhere. If you just want some little thing to play in certain situations, this may suffice. I only use it when watching TV with wife so it doesn't bother her much.

The little amp with a big attitude

By Rob "cant touch this" Thomas

from Stafford, VA

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

Boy was I in for a treat when I made a decision to purchase the Marshall MS-2 mini-amp! I was on my way to college and no way was I going to lug my bigger amp back and forth when i wanted to come home or return to my dorm. The MS-2 is the perfect companion for a traveling guitar. And friend ;) It will test your mind, and your head, and your brain too. For the amazing price and the convenience of this miracle, I just couldn't say no to Marshall. I have yet to see a downside to this little amp, and I don't plan too either. Some might say it's bark is bigger than it's bite, but I say "Wait untill you here me shred the tastiest lick your ears have ever dined on." All in all, the Marshall MS-2 mini amp is a rollercoaster ride i just can't put down. I'm convinced it'll do the same for you.

Heavy Metal Amp

By Joseph

from Greenville, SC

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

This amp is great for if you have limited space or play metal. There is no clean tone which i like, there's only distortion and heavier distortion.

Portable Musician

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

I bring my guitar with me to work all the time because it's boring. I'm able to pass the time thanks to this thing. I play about 3 hours a day, 4 days a week. It's already been 2 months and the battery it originally came with still powers it. I strap it to my belt and play. When on, the cleans are nice for what it is. But what I really like is the distortion it gets when you max the volume and put it on overdrive. Wonderful wonderful little amp. Great buy for anyone who doesn't want to lug a giant amp around with them.

Mini me

By more_guitars

from Austin, TX

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

The Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp is surprisingly decent for something that looks like a desktop toy. You get Volume, Tone and a 3-position knob for Off, On (clean), and Overdrive. You even get a belt clip and a headphone jack on the side. A single 9v battery is all it takes to power this little demon up. It actually gets fairly loud, too. An MS-2 is great for jamming in your guitar case for those last-minute warmups or those after-hours cooldowns.

Good...Until it blows

By Andrew

from San Diego, California

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

The first time i played this little fellow. i was amazed. i finally got the great tone i'd always wanted for when i played some 80's metal like Ac/Dc. I was astounded. but, this little guy is pretty small, and its bark is really loud. so it might blow. sure enough after only a day of playing,it doesn't sound the same. Even the guy at guitar center told me it blows fairly easily. So if your gonna get this, don't put it all the way up,keep it at least at volume 6 or 7 if you want it to keep its quality. Its still pretty loud at 6 or 7. Just a helpful tip.

Cool Little Marshall!!

By Roger the guitar player long haired

from Kent, WA

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

Every Marshall fans should own this little beast! The tone is Mashall all the way. Great ballsy overdrive tones and this little half stack can actually get loud! The clean channel is not that clean but usable, but then again it's a Marshall! I've been playing Marshall amps for more than 18 years and this mini half stack delivers the goods in a small package. I'm getting the full stack model next time!

Blow Away!!!!!

By Ricardo S.

from New Orleans, Lousiana

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

Well at first I was undecided whether to get this. I finally had the courage to try it out. When I unpacked it I didn't expect much from it........ IT MADE ME EAT MY WORDS! This amp is great to say it's the size of my hand. It has that authentic Marshall sound. I recommend you that if you have some spare bucks spend it on this rather than on trash. I love it and still practice on it from time to time.

It's a freakin marshall that's been shrunk!

By Angus' Biggest Fan

from Dallas, Texas

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

this amp dominates! Its way stronger and louder than I expected. The first night I had it I played simple man non-stop because i loved the tone so much. its just like an actual marshall, if you go to 5 on clean you get a really nice warm crunch and to 6 upwards it only gets better. I've used a lot of mini-amps because of their portability, but this is the best mini amp I have ever used. What did I expect? IT'S A MARSHALL!

Worth the money

By Stratmaster

from Stonewall, Manitoba

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

This little amp is a good buy if you want something inexpensive to jam quietly by yourself. If you want something to jam in a band with, then this is not what you need. But, overal I enjoy it and I got my money's worth.

Small Amp Has Great POWER!!

By K-Sully

from Glen Burnie, Md

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

My girl friend got me this for my birthday, and although i wanted it i wasn't sure what to expect judging by the size of the amp. But i pluged it in to my PRS SE Custom 24 for the 1st time and holy moly what a sound!! Its 1st of all ALOT louder then u would expect from a mini amp, and the distortion is great & gives off quite the AC/DCish classic rock type sound!! and because i got back surgery in the fall this thing is extremely light weight and perfect for my needs!! in addition the belt clip is fantastic!! i can stand & rock out!! i feel so much like Jack Black hahaha!! anyway Marshall has created a true Masterpiece and is wonderfull for practice or just plain fun!! =D

By Strato619

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

It's a pretty decent amp for the price. it's good for when you're on the go and you want to play like in the car for example because its battery powered ( one 9V. The sound is ok not that great but still good for a little mini amp

good enough

By Billy

from New York, NY

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

I got this amp before i went on vacation, it can get pretty loud, allows you to walk around, clean and overdrive channel. The batteries in there really last, you wont have to change them more than once a month. It obviously can't sound as good as a regular amp, but for a pocket amp, it is the best and really gets the job done.

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

For awhile, I had been thinking about buying a JCM 800 to tour with, but while looking for one, a buddy of mine recommended that I get the MS-2. So I figured, why not try it. It shipped quickly and i LOVE IT. Fills out any stadium very well. It has that classic, tubey marshall juiciness and I could not think of a better amp for anything from practice to studio recording.

    Very nice surprise!

    By Marcelo Ramos

    from Scottsdale, AZ

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

I won a MS-2 ming by my wife. I confess that I was not expecting a good sound coming this toy and I was very surprised how is really good! Its very nice for training. The 4 star is just because the clean channel is not really clean, I am using only the dirty channel that is nice.

        True Marshall Sound and Quality

        By The Metal Guy

        from NJ

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

ok, i have been playing this amp for about 3 hours straight (literally, non-stop) now after receiving it as a gift. all i have to say is "amazingness!" the Marshall ms-2 is amazing! im not one to exaggerate either... the tone is great, the overdrive is great, the clip-on ability is great, the quality of the cabinet and head material is great, the whole thing is great. the overdrive can be thin on lower volume, but go past 5 and you hear the true tone of this amp. it has such great versatility with just a tone, vol, and OD knob. **notes, things you should consider seriously now that im done drooling** 1:: the OD is very thin on low vol lvls 2:: the clean channel is basically silent... but you can get real good sounds out of it, it just dosnt go that loud 3:: if you put it through a pedal (which defeats the purpose of having a portable amp), you will find that this thing truely does have the same Marshall quality and sound as a stack. as far as im concerned, you can pack your whole rig up with just this amp and pedal board (or multi F/X pedal) and run it through a microphone using a mixer board (assuming the place you are going has one) and get the same quality sound as a 100 watt (and yes, i have done this... it works.... wonderfully)
