This amp is perfect! The effects are awesome, and when you crank up the volume it still sounds wonderful. It's great for practice or even small gigs. I have a bigger Marshall that I use for my shows, but you can't go wrong with this one. It's affordable and can fit almost anywhere. Overall it sounds great and is very versatile to your playing style and it's very affordable.

I got this amp for christmas and at the time it was great, but by the time I got to six months, the thing has just completely died out. It has constant buzzing even without anything plugged in, the delay never worked on mine, something was wrong with the FX. And if you have it on for more than an hour the bass on the amp gets really loud. These are just a bunch of the problems I encountered. The MG series should be avoided, but I do think the Marshall Tube Amps are something to invest in, just not the MG series.

its a beast

By Nate S.

from St. Louis MO

This amp kicks out awsome tone and power. Its a power house of metal mainia and the price is right. The built in fx are good if you dont want to haul alot of gear to jam at a buds house and is a loud beast. if u want a Marshall that wont break the bank this is it. oh yeah it go's to 11 too.

Ok tones butt...

By Skizzers

from Reno, NV

I just got this amp today and though the tone is nice it has it's problems. The master volume pot is very noisy and the two button footswitch is not working properly. It will not cycle through all four channels (clean/crunch OD1/OD2), it is only cycling through clean and crunch. Not really happy that I can not seem to store my own presets to be footswitched properly as well. This amp is going back tomorrow.

classic Marshall tone at a geat price

By Keith

from Warrington, PA

I purchased this amp at my local Guitar Center and I love it. As soon as I plugged it in, I got the classic Marshall tone I was looking for without a lot of tweaking and adjusting knobs.

not worth it for the money

By daniel

from southfield michigan

i bought this amp with high expectation of getting that classic marshall sound. i was wrong. the positive thing about this amp is that it has a really nice clean sound. besides for that, all the overdrive channels sound awful. its way too muddy and you cant even hear the notes when you strum a chord. my fender 15w amp that was $100 has a better distortion channel. sure it doesn't have all the effect but i honestly dont even use the fx effects that much. a week later i returned it and downgraded to the marshall mg 30fx which is $200 and i bought a boss distortion pedal because i knew that the amp was not going to have a good distortion channel. i currently still have this amp but im going to return it within the next few days and look for a better amp. so if you were thinking about buying this amp dont bother unless you like that kinda muddy sound.

Love it & hate it

By Aaron B

from Urbandale, IA

I really liked how it sounded in the store. At home, I liked the clean channel tone, although it doesn't really do anything interesting when you max out the gain. So there's this big tonal gap between the clean channel and the crunch/overdriven channels. The crunch and the overdriven channels sound really good when single notes are played (like a solo). And the effects are decent and very usable. My big problem with this amp is that almost any chord played in crunch/OD sounds horrible. You hear the notes you intend to play, but you also hear this horrible bass undertone. No amount of tinkering or adjusting seems to help. It even comes through on headphones. I took it back and the rep didn't seem to think it was a problem. I would have returned it, but for the money I still thought it was the best choice for me. I do have a lot of fun with it and in many situations it sounds really good, but the horrible chord sounds are just becoming unbearable. I bought the service plan and I will be returning it before long and buying something more expensive since I can't seem to find anything decent in this price range. Functionally everything seems to work exactly as it should (knobs, switches, etc.)

sooooo warm

By eric

from paramus nj

ive played a few different amps before getting this one, the best one i played was my friends 40w VOX. those are very good amps they sound warm and fat, but marshall is the biggest name in amps for a reason. this thing has the tone i was looking for. the clean channel is smooth and so warm that you could heat your coffee on it. its distortion is beefy and the warmest crunch ive ever played. if you need a chorus or flanger, dont bank on the built in effects. however, i was thinking of getting a delay pedal but the delay on this combined with mamrshall's fat warm tone and a little reverb is an amazing thing. i made a big mistake by getting a line 6 spider before my marshall. the only good thing a line 6 is good for is for stuff like metallica or some crazy overdrive. i play alot of foo fighters and nivana ect so the marshall is perfect. the mg series covers everything from a small practice amp to a something for a small show. if you like VOX go with that cause theyre good too, but i wouldnt go with anything other than a marshall.

this amp rocks

By Richard thomas

from Phoenix Az

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years and played through many amps. I bought this amp two days ago and it is a great amp. I love the how easy this amp works and the great tones I get out of this Mg 50 fx. The four channels are very easy to navigate and the digital effects are awesome. I play country, gospel and classic rock and this amp works for all styles. This amp is great at home practices and in the band that I play at different Church services. I would recommend this amp for any one who has a tight budget but wants a great amp to play through.

Great amp for $

By Jeff Hudson

from Levelland tx

Having only owned this amp for a short time I can't comment on the reliability of this amp, but I can comment on the tone and that is I don't understand why everyone else complains about it. This amp has the best tone I have heard in this price range and can compete with more expensive ones. When I played this amp in store, I used a Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro and a Fender Deluxe Strat, which was closest to what i own, and I could not get a "bad" sound out of this amp. When I played at home the only problem was that the pickups on my Les Paul were to muddy for this amp. Which is not the amp's fault. I would recommend this amp to anyone, it is that flexible and I can't think of any style of music that can not be handled by it with everything that comes on board. I can recommend this amp to any one!

Really good if you play metal, but effects aren't the best.

By Walter Perez

from College Park, Maryland

I've had this amp for four months and it is pretty good. I got a tone that is pretty good for a Metallica sound. I recommend maxing the gain, adding a bit of delay, and a bit of reverb.
