Overview

The 2x12 Marshall MG102FX is a 100W combo amp that has 4 programmable channels, awesome analog tone, adjustable FX, and more amazing features. Now at your disposal is a separate digital Delay, meaning that a total of 3 custom-voiced FX can be combined at once—Reverb, Modulation (Chorus/Phaser/Flanger), and Delay—creating near-endless FX possibilities. What's more, the Reverb and Delay FX decay naturally when switching between channels for a truly fluid performance. If you want to add extra pedals and/or rack effects, you can make use of the amp's switchable External FX. Set in series and at instrument level, this send and return system is suitable for both guitar and professional units alike.

The MG102FX has power-amp damping circuitry that lets you switch effortlessly between the feel of a classic power amp with the emphasis on mids, and that of boosted speaker resonance in both bass and treble frequency ranges, magnifying the response and projection of your tone. Everything is switchable via the front panel and/or the included programmable MG Footcontroller, affording you complete control. You'll also find that the headphone jack on this top-tier Marshall MG doubles as a very handy line out. It's ideal for sending your jaw-dropping solos to any external unit you wish—a computer, digital recorder, or PA system, for example. As when used with headphones, the amp's speaker is muted, allowing silent recording. Output can then be directly monitored from the external equipment being used.

I really love/loved this thing. It's a nice amp that blasts and lasts.I'm still lovin it, but some stuff that some friends have shown me just makes me want to upgrade. But, if you want some Marshall tone with something that can blast it, and you'd like to expirement with some effects without buying 4 or 5 pedals or a multi-effect pedal with a billion effects that you don't want to try to skim through, this amp can deliver what you need.
This amp has quite a few effects that I wouldn't really expect to be on something like this. Marshall does have some nice amps that don't usually come with the effects this one does. It helps, especially if you aren't too experienced with them, but want something that can crank what you want it to.
I've had this amp for a little over 2 years now, thinking about getting something new. But for what I needed it for, this amp kicked ass! I think I've just gotten to the point that I just need something else hahaBut after 2 years, for the most part it just has some bumps here and there, and I'm missing one of the rubber bumpers on the bottom. But the sounds out of this is pretty amazing. The clean is just smooth and one of my friends just can't get over it hahaOnly real problem I have with it is that I can't quite get the overdrive I want out of it. I can't get definition out of the bass.
The biggest thing that surprised me when I saw this was the price. I could get Marshall tone, with 2 12" speakers for this much?? SHWEET!!

Bought this amp and returned it within 3 days. Feedback tone has no characteristics. You can't even turn this amp up without hearing a loud feedback screech. Amp sounds good at low volume but I have no use for a 100 watt amp that I'm not able to crank up. Very generic sounding for Marshall due to new digital circuitry I think. Old MG series sounds way better. If your planning on buying this amp, don't do it unless you don't care about having a good sound. Save up more money and buy a used Marshall tube head like JCM 900, 800, DSL, or TSL. I don't think this is even worth the money but please note this is all just my opinion. I bought the 10 watt and it sounds the best for the new MG series amps. Anyway do what you want and be your own judge of what sounds good.

I have had this amp for a few months and really enjoy it. I have read reviews where people don't like the distortion. I like both channels. Both clean channels are fine to, the only complaint being that the green clean channel volume level isn't inline with the volume level on the other three. Very minor. I play in my home and it works well. It is powerful, and the volume stays at 4 or lower. The effects are kind of "ehh". which is why I didn't give it a 5. The reverb works well enough. The chorus is useable. The flanger and phaser are not something I need and are kind of rinkydink. I bought a restock that had a scuff on its back at a significant reduction. Well worth the money. Definitely download the manual from Marshall(I didnt get one) because a few things like switching from manual to pre-set mode are not self-explanatory(simple once you read the four page manual). I'm not a professional musician; I don't play live; I don't tour. So I can't vouch for how this plays live. If you are looking for a Marshall, don't want to spend an arm/leg, and primarily play for yourself, this amp works well.

Looks good, sounds good, is fun to play with!
The amp I grew up with only had tremolo. I will be noodling around with all these FX for a long time to come!
I play electric guitar, a/e guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin through this.
So far, it has handled everything and it all sounds great!
I got this on sale. Still, comparatively speaking, it is a really good value.

    Very good starter amp!

    By Drew Jones

I just can't say how pleased I am with this little amp. Great features and excellent construction make this one I'm going to use for a long time to come. If you play very hard core metal, you may still want to use your own stomp box in the effects loop. Or do what I did, buy a multi-effects pedal and hook it up using the four cable method.
I have owned a JCM800 stackk before and to be honest, the overdrive/distortion on this unit is quite comparable. I don't tend to overuse effects, so being able to add just a touch of modulation and delay during leads, without a bunch of messy cables and stomp boxes is quite nice.
I've seen higher priced units with less features than this box has. My old JCM800 didn't even have this much. The construction is quite solid. I've heard older models had an open back, but the one I got was closed, which I was delighted to see.
The most bang for the buck I've seen in a while, and I've been playing over 30 years. It even has an effects loop to accomodate all your oldie-but-goodie stomp boxes.

    Awesome tone

    By Fender Man-tpBKL

This amp is awesome. If you dont play alot of metal, Get It! If you play metal buy a pedal with it.
I got this amp today on sale and fell in love right away. This amp is one of the only Marshall series of amps that goes really clean. People say that marshall can't go clean, this amp proves them wrong. I love to play songs from Chris Tomlin and Jesus Culture. These songs require a little bit of crunch so that you can pick threw the notes but still get the big tone jumbled together in a full strum of a chord.
It sounds great low or loud. It doesnt have wheels but that is ok. If you dont take good care of your amps then you will care.
    Great amp at the price.

    By Michael Friese

I purchased this amp on ebay about 4 months ago. I ve been playing 4 yrs and play mostly blues and some classic rock Everyone that has played it says its a great little amp. Alot of people are saying the distortion sucks I play through a les paul standard and it just sustains from monday till friday. For what you pay for it don t bitch Its a great amp. Put a MG412cf straight cabinet to it like I did and you ll really see how it sounds

    Lacking

    By Iron Maiden zombie

    from Pennsylvania, USA

Once again, the distortion is lacking, severely limiting the MG 100's practical use.
The distortion on this amp is extremely disappointing, and I was expecting much more from a Marshall amp. the clean tone is fabulous though.
The MG 100 really lacks the features and abilities to make it worth any decent amount of money.

Used this amp for a while and i am totally impressed.

    By kevin schepler

i play metal mainly and to tell you the truth the distortion isn't crazy awesome but you have the right pickups and the gain setting is just for fine tuneing. i love the versatility of the tones and the various effects it has. the best solid state for it's price

    Pretty nice

    By Isaac Leal-Wood

    from Parker, AZ

I'm kind of a starting musician and this is the biggest amp I've got (planning on going bigger soon) but considering the price and the size (MG seems like Marshall's budget line XD) I'd say this thing isn't too bad for a starter...only bad end is the distortion on this baby is pretty lacking...
